BATH

Race 4 – EMPIRE OF LIGHT 15/2

Revenue could be worth another chance having collided with a goose when third at Windsor on his second start, but he may struggle in giving weight to all of his rivals.

Toca Madera shaped well when third here over 5f on debut last month and the extra furlong appears likely to benefit him. The vote, though, goes to EMPIRE OF LIGHT. A full brother to the Mill Reef winner Kessaar, he can be expected to know his job and is likely to capitalise from a low draw.

GOODWOOD

Race 2 – NEVER ENDING 72/100

NEVER ENDING took a big step forward on her seasonal reappearance and should be able to break her maiden in this fillies’ novice stakes at Goodwood. Trained by John and Thady Gosden, the Cheveley Park Stud-owned filly only made it to the track once at two.

Given she cost 825,000 guineas, connections would not have been blown away by her fourth-placed finish at Southwell. By No Nay Never, she is a full sister to Arizona, winner of the Coventry Stakes in 2019, hence the hefty price tag.

She ran green on that debut and clearly benefitted for the experience as next time out at Newmarket, she looked a different proposition.
Second to Charlie Appleby’s Silver Lady, who has subsequently gone close in Listed company, the third home Rowayeh has also won since.
If she has come forward again for that, which she is entitled to, she sets a good standard.

HAYDOCK

Race 2 – GOVERNOR OF INDIA 7/2

The Gosdens could also be celebrating at Haydock, where GOVERNOR OF INDIA looks a very noteworthy newcomer in this novice stakes outing. Unraced at two, the son of Dubawi is out of John Gosden’s French Oaks winner Star Of Seville.

It is slightly surprising that he begins life over almost a mile and a half, but owner Lady Bamford, still on a high after Soul Sister’s Oaks victory, could be in the winner’s enclosure again.

Race 5 – CROWN ESTATE 33/10

The well-bred Ancient Wisdom cost 2,000,000 euro as a yearling and is bound to be popular, but the form of his stable is a slight worry, and preference instead is for CROWN ESTATE.

A son of the French 1000 Guineas winner Castle Lady, he is bred to be at his best over a mile, but he may have enough pace for this trip first time out. Dallas Star and Victory Shout are others with strong pedigrees that could get involved.

Race 6 – AL ALAALI 28/10

Al Alaali has been runner-up on two of his last three starts and should be suited by the switch to turf. The three-year-old has the services of James Doyle to call on this time around and that may be enough to see off FOX VISION, who threw away his chance when hanging left late on at Ripon in April. EL JASOR has claims if bouncing back to the form of his penultimate effort at Windsor.
