Race 6
Two 4yr old and a 3yr old filly could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but with the late scratching of two of her main rivals, the door may have opened for today’s best bet, CRITICAL ALTITUDE to chalk up her second career victory. She has consistent formlines to her name and showed plenty of speed before kicking clear of the field at the top of the home straight, before being run out of it late, ending up in fourth place last time out over six furlongs, just under two and a half lengths behind the winner. On that effort, she should enjoy the drop in trip and from her handy draw two, she could prove difficult to reel in over the closing stages.
SOMETHINGREADY has posted two solid last runs, the latest when finishing fourth over this sprint distance, 0.8L back from the winner. She raced just behind the leaders that day and then battled all the way down to the wire. She jumps from gate six and could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.
MADAM KISSES made marked improvement to win by 1.3L over five furlongs at the second time of asking when returning from a 42 week absence. She will have to negotiate draw eight, but the fact that her connections have brought her back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that she still has something more to offer them and she should be involved in the finish.
Race 7
BOURBON BEAU followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a third place finish when stepping up to seven furlongs, one and a half lengths behind the winner, but he had to be held up at the top of the home straight that day and the form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He has pulled a wideish gate eight, but he should be right up there when they hit the line. He returns from a 15 week rest, but did finish second in his only barrier trial.
A 4yr old and a 3yr old filly could chase him home, with the slight preference going to DREAM EVIL who also won her penultimate start over six furlongs and then finished a staying on 2.8L fourth over the same trip and the form of that race has been franked. She gets gate five and will be having her peak run since returning from a 23 week break.
GORGEOUS GOSSIP raced up with the pace but two wide before ending up in sixth spot last time out over six furlongs, 2.8L behind the winner. The form of that race does however look strong with three runners from that contest subsequently winning. She is drawn one inside the latter and should be included in all bets.
Race 8
THIS’LL TESTYA has cracked pole position and goes for her hat-trick after victories over 1100M and the latest by one and a half lengths over six furlongs, this despite having to be held up entering the home straight. She finished her race off strongly that day and the trio is very much on the cards.
BUZZOOM showed solid improvement to win her last start over six furlongs, albeit by just a head. She was returning from an 18 week break that day, but if she is able to confirm that last effort and from draw three, she should be a big runner in this line-up.
SEARCHIN’ ROC’S won her penultimate outing over a mile and then finished seventh last time out over nine furlongs, 2.8L back from the winner, but she did come three wide into the home stretch, so should have finished closer to the victor than she officially did. She has her first run after an 18 week break, but did finish second in her only barrier trial to showcase her well-being. From gate six, she should be involved in the finish.
Race 9
The day’s value bet, PHONEME won over today’s trip three runs back and then finished second in his penultimate start over the same distance, before ending up in nineth place last time out over the seven furlongs, but just over two lengths behind the winner. It should however be noted that he pulled up lame that day, so that effort was commendable. He jumps from a useful draw four and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways.
AL MAGICO had his consistency rewarded with a head win last time out over seven furlongs, notwithstanding being friendless in the betting markets. He jumps from a cozy draw two and on that last performance, he could complete a quick double.
ELAFELLA won over this distance three runs back and finished fourth over the same journey last time out 2.8L off the winner, but he was hampered at the start that day and was returning from a 30 week break. He will have to overcome a wide draw eleven, but he is a speedy sort who should be able to work his way across without using up too much energy.
