Race 5

GARZA BLANCA is seldom far off the action and although recorded as finishing eighth last time out over six furlongs, he was just 2.3L back from the winner, this after jumping awkwardly and having to check shortly after the start. He returns from an 18-week break and has his first run for his new trainer, but he has had three barrier trials, winning the latest. He will have to negotiate a wideish draw eight, but if fully settled into his new surroundings, he should give a good account of himself here.

WAIHAHA FALLS followed up his penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with a fourth-place finish next time out over seven furlongs, just under four lengths back from the winner, but he jumped awkwardly that day, bumping another runner, before staying on well over the closing stages. The gelding is drawn one outside the top pick, but on the plus side, he will have 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

KEY LARGO jumped awkwardly and was crowded over the latter stages when ending up in ninth place last time out over 1100M, just over three lengths back from the victor. He has his peak run after returning from a 13-week rest and from a handy draw four, he should be included in all bets.

Race 6

OWARI had his consistency rewarded with a two-length victory last time out over a mile, striking the front at the 300M mark to go on to record a comfortable win. He has his first run after a 22-week spell, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials. The gelding jumps from gate seven and should turn in another honest effort here and is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

LOS PADRES has pulled draw five and is also a winner of his last start, but in his case over six furlongs and by 2.3L, this despite losing a shoe in running. He has his peak run for his new trainer and returning from an 18-week spell and will have 1.5kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice.

NAPOLEON SOLO has cracked pole position and showed solid improvement to finish second in his latest outing over seven furlongs, just a half-length off the winner. He made good late progress in that event to just fail to overhaul the winner and with the services of a 3kg claiming apprentice, he will be looking to go one better today.

Race 7

The day’s best bet, TUTTA LA VITA lost a length at the start and had to weave her way through traffic down the home straight when finishing third last time out over seven furlongs, just under two lengths behind the winner. She was returning from an 18-week rest that day and faces the widest draw of them all in gate seventeen, but she is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race and could prove hard to topple.

She renews her rivalry with ARCTIC GLAMOUR who finished tenth last time out in the same race mentioned above, just under five and a half lengths back from the victor. She finished well from some way back in that contest, but whilst drawn slightly better in gate ten, she is 1kg worse off with the former at today’s weights, so she may struggle to reverse that result.

HARLOW MIST was returning from a 15-week rest when showing marked improvement to finish fourth place last time out over seven furlongs, 2.8L adrift of the winner. She on the other hand has a handy draw two and should be involved in the finish.

Race 8

VAIN INVADER won his penultimate run over seven furlongs and then finished third last time out over the same journey, just under four and a half lengths behind the winner. He sat just behind the leader that day and then stayed on well over the closing stages, suggesting that he should appreciate the extra ground on offer here. The gelding will have to deal with a wide gate twelve, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy and will have the services of a 1.5kg claiming apprentice.

EXTREME FREEDOM raced wide throughout without cover and was crowded at the 100M pole when finishing fourth in his latest outing over a mile, two and a half lengths behind the winner, so he had his excuses. The gelding has a useful gate two and should be right up there when they hit the line.

THIS IS THE MOMENT was slow away and had to be held up at the 400M mark when finishing third last time out over a mile, 1.8L back from the winner. He finished off his race strongly that day and jumping from gate five, he should be considered a big runner in this line-up.
