Race 6

MISS BOOM BOOM had her consistency rewarded with her maiden victory last time out over 1300M by a half length. She showed plenty of toe that day and on that effort, she should enjoy the drop in distance. She returns from a 19 week break, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, winning the latest. From gate seven, she could prove hard to reel in and is made the best bet on the day’s card.

Although MISS WALLFLOWER is recorded as finishing nineth last time out over 1100M, she was just three and a half lengths behind the winner and that was at a stronger center. She finished off her race well that day, suggesting that the extra ground on offer today will be to her liking. She gets gate five and could prove to be the biggest threat to the top choice.

LADY FALVELON had finished second three time prior to being a tad disappointing to finish eighth last time out over 1300M, just over four and a half lengths adrift of the victor, but she did jump awkwardly and shifted out in the home straight, so she had her excuses. She has pulled a wideish draw eight, but she gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, she should be a big runner here.

Race 7

BURDEKIN has cracked pole position and has consistent formlines to his name, finishing second in his latest outing over six furlongs, just a length back from the winner and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. The gelding was returning from an 18 week break that day and did overrace in the early stages and had to be steadied off the heels of another runner approaching the home turn, before running on well over the closing stages. He will get 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice and could be the one that they all have to beat.

TAIKUN TOMMY ran on well from some way back to finish tenth last time out over seven furlongs, 5.8L adrift of the winner. He faces a wide draw nine, but he is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race.

ULTIMATE MAN lost a length at the start and did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight when ending up in seventh place last time out over seven furlongs, four lengths off the winner. He jumps from gate five and should be included in all bets.

Race 8

A three year old filly and two five year old mares could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but SMILE UPON A STAR is taken to lead the pack home. She finished fifth on debut over five furlongs and then showed the expected improvement to win her next start over 1100M by 0,8L, despite coming three wide into the home straight and was immediately rested for 21 weeks. She returns here after having finished third in his only barrier trial and from draw seven she could prove good enough to secure her double.

FULLHAM went from gun to tape to win by a half length first time out over five furlongs. She would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she should be right up there when they hit the line. She faces a wide draw eleven, but she is a speedy sort who should be able to work her way across without using up too much gas.

QUICK ‘N’ DANDY followed up her penultimate run victory over 1500M with a fourth place finish next time out over a mile, four lengths back from the winner. She has changed stables since then and returns here after a two year spell, but has finished fourth in her only barrier trial. The fact that her connections have brought her back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that she still has something more to offer them, so she should not be easily overlooked.

Race 9

The day’s value bet, EL ASTEROID has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three starts, the latest when third over 1500M, by just a length, this after trying to go from jump to wire. He did hang out over the latter stages that day, which did his cause no good and from gate six, he is likely to attempt similar tactics today.

SHOWMAN is seldom far off the action, finishing strongly to claim fourth last time out over a mile, just over a length and a half back from the winner. The gelding is drawn one outside the top pick and should keep him honest.

DRAGON SONG is a three year old filly taking on males, but she won her penultimate start over 1300M and then finished second next time out over 1500M, just a head behind the winner. She was however bumped by the winner at the 100M pole, but the resultant objection for that incident was overruled and the original result stood. She gets cheek pieces fitted for today’s run and if this move proves inspired, she should be involved in the finish.
