Race 7

WAIHAHA FALLS has consistent formlines to his name, having won over this sprint trip three runs back and then finishing second last time out over 1300M, 1.3L behind the winner, despite coming three wide into the home straight. He stayed on well that day and will be having his peak run after returning from a 14-week rest. From gate six, he is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

BRIGANTINE is drawn one outside the top choice and followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a third place finish next time out over 1300M, just under two and a half lengths behind the winner, but he overraced in the early stages that day and come four wide into the home straight, before having to be eased off the heels of other runners at the 350M mark. The form of that race has however stood up well with four runners out of that contest subsequently winning.

ELEVEN ELEVEN has cracked pole position and was not disgraced in his penultimate run in a Group 1 event over six furlongs and was then pulled out of the race last time out in $1M The Hunter over 1300M when his jockey felt that there was something amiss so that run is best ignored. He has won a subsequent barrier trial, so should be given another chance today.

Race 8

NUGGET had his consistency rewarded with a 2.3L victory last time out over a mile. That was only his second start in Australia since arriving from the UK where he had already won four races and he may well be ahead of the handicapper at this stage of his career. He is drawn wide in gate fifteen, but he will be having his peak run after returning from a 54-week spell.

HUETOR won his penultimate run over 2100M and then finished eighth in his latest outing over eleven furlongs, beaten four and a half lengths and was immediately rested for 26 weeks. He returns here after finishing second in his only barrier trial and from a wideish gate eight, he should keep the former honest.

RIODINI raced three wide without cover, but still finished well to win this last start over a mile by half a length. He is stuck out wide in gate seventeen, but he should be doing his best work late and should be included in all bets.

Race 9

At the time of writing, NUGGET was still carded to run in the previous race, as well this contest. He will get 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice, Zac Lloyd, son of ex-SA champion jockey, Jeff Lloyd and if taking his place in this line-up, he is made the best bet on the card.

BULLFINCH has consistent formlines to his credit and jumped awkwardly, was held up at the 300M mark and then finally, checked at the 200M pole, before ending up in sixth place last time out over a mile, just under three lengths back from the victor. He will have to negotiate draw ten, but with better luck in running, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

CISCO BAY won over a mile three runs back and then finished second in his penultimate start over the same journey and then ended up in fifth spot last time out over 1500M, 2.3L adrift of the winner, but it should be noted that he was bumped at the start on that occasion. He has pulled gate three and should turn in another honest performance today.

IRISH LEGEND is drawn one outside the latter and put his disappointing penultimate run behind him when finishing fifth last time out over seven furlongs, just under a length and a half off the winner, when returning from an 18-week absence. That was only his second outing in Australia, and more improvement should come.

Race 10

DEMOCRACY MANIFEST’S last three runs have yielded two seconds and a third, the latest one of those second-place finishes over seven furlongs, 1.2L behind the winner. He made good late progress that day and from gate seven, the gelding looks to be the one to side with here. Although

KANAZAWA is recorded as finishing eighth last time out over six furlongs, he was just two lengths off the winner. He was returning from a 16-week spell that day and had to hold up entering the home straight. He is drawn one outside the top pick and will get the services of 2kg claiming apprentice Zac Lloyd.

ASTERO jumped awkwardly and came four wide into the home stretch, before hitting the front at the 200M mark and then holding off the chasing pack in the dash down to the line. He in turn is drawn one outside the latter and will also get 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice.
