Race 7

REMARQUE missed out on his hat-trick after victories over 1100M and six furlongs when finishing eighth last time out over six furlongs, 1.8L behind the winner, but he had to be steadied off the heels of other runners at the 1100M mark and then raced three wide without cover. The gelding returns from a 16-week rest but did finish second in his only barrier trial to prove his fitness.

ANDERMATT was returning from a 14-week rest when finishing seventh in his latest outing over 1100M, 2.7L back from the winner, but he did hang out throughout in that contest. He has finished second in a subsequent barrier trial and whilst drawn the widest of them all in gate eleven, he should be doing his best work late.

KOTE goes for his hat-trick after two wins over six furlongs, the latest by one and a half lengths. He showed plenty of toe that day and from gate six, he could prove difficult to reel in over the closing stages. He does return from a 15-week rest but has finished second and first in his two barrier trials.

Race 8

AFT CABIN has won two of his last three runs and finished second in the other, the latest victory over seven furlongs when putting three and a half lengths between himself and the opposition. He raced just behind the leader that day and then struck the front turning for home and the result was never in doubt from that point. The colt resumes after a 20 week break, but he did win his only barrier trial to showcase his well-being. He has a widish draw eight, but nevertheless, he is made the best bet on the day’s card.

ZOU TIGER won over 1300M three runs back and after a slightly disappointing penultimate run, he finished third last time out over seven furlongs, one and a half lengths off the winner, when trying to go from jump to wire. He returns from a 19 week break, but has had the benefit of tree barrier trials, finishing third in the latest. He is drawn one inside the top choice and could prove to be his biggest threat.

OSIPENKO put his weak penultimate run over seven furlongs in heavy going behind him when finishing third last time out over a mile, just a half-length behind the winner. He hung out on the home turn in that event and then had to be eased at the 300M mark, so that effort was encouraging. He has his first run since a 17-week absence but has had the two barrier trials and from his handy draw three, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 9

The day’s value bet, STAR SPARKS has consistent form lines to his name and tried to go from gun to tape when ending up in second spot last time out over a mile, just a half-length back from the winner. He attracted plenty of betting support that day and although drawn wide in gate nine, he will be hoping to make amends today.

WINEGLASS BAY is seldom far off the action, finishing fourth last time out over 1500M, just under two lengths back from the winner, this despite jumping awkwardly and coming four wide into the home straight. He is drawn one inside the top pick and will have his peak run after returning from a 34-week break.

KETTLE HILL has cracked pole position and raced three wide without cover from the 1000M pole and was hampered over the closing stages when ending up in fifth place last time out over seven furlongs, 1.3L back from the victor. With better luck in running today, he should be included in all bets.

Race 10

SACRIMONY’S last four runs have yielded two seconds and two third place finishes, the latest one of those third-place finishes over six furlongs, 1.8L behind the winner, but he did jump awkwardly on that occasion and the form of that race has been franked. The gelding has pulled gate six and could provide champion jockey James McDonald with the second and the last leg winners of the day’s Jackpot.

LINDERMANN is the stable companion to the top choice and showed marked improvement to finish second last time out over nine furlongs, just a head behind the victor, despite racing three wide throughout, so can be considered an unlucky loser. From his useful draw three, he makes a solid back-up for the powerful Chris Waller yard.

DIAMOND DEALER is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has her hat-trick run after two wins over 1100M, the latest by one and a half lengths. She faces a wide draw thirteen, but she is a speedy sort who will get 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice to aid her cause.
