Race 5

MIL CIENTO showed the expected improvement to win by one length over five furlongs at the second time of asking. He hit the front at the 100M mark and then held off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire, this despite hanging out over the closing stages. He would have come on further with that run under his belt and notwithstanding a wide draw ten, he looks to be the one to side with here.

NEPHRADIVA is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she is also lightly raced having had only the four outings to date, but she won over 900M on debut and finished fifth last time out over five furlongs, 4.8L behind the winner and the form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She returns from a 22 week break and has not had a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust. She faces a wider gate thirteen, but gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, she should be a big runner here.

MY BOLD BOY had his consistency rewarded with a 2.7L maiden win last time out over five furlongs. He showed plenty of toe that day, so should be able to use that to move across without expending too much energy. He takes on stronger here, but may well be up to the task at hand.

Race 6

A 5yr old mare and a 3yr old filly could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but the day’s best bet, YUGOSPHERE is taken to lead the field home. She is seldom far off the action and finished second last time out over seven furlongs, 0.7L back from the winner. She raced just behind the leaders in that contest and had to be held up on the home turn, but then found a strong finish, only to run out of enough track to run down the winner. She gets gate four and with better luck in running today, she may prove difficult to topple.

PATRIKA MIST has cracked pole position and finished fourth on debut over five furlongs and then won her next start by just under a half length when stepping up to six furlongs. She made good late progress that day, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to her liking.

SUPER HELPFUL has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, the latest when fourth over seven furlongs, 1.7L adrift of the victor. He pulled hard in the early and middle stages that day, but still managed to stay on over the latter stages. He has pulled gate five and should be involved in the finish.

Race 7

ROMAN followed up his penultimate run victory over nine furlongs with a disappointing eleventh place finish next time out over 1900M, 12.7L adrift of the winner, but that was at a stronger center and he did jump awkwardly before brushing the running rail at the 1000M mark. In addition, he did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight, so that effort is probably best ignored. He jumps from draw five and is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

PRINCE OF HELENA raced wide and without cover when ending up in twelfth place last time out over a mile, 4.3L back from the winner, but his three runs prior to that had yielded two seconds and one third place finishes. He will have to negotiate draw nine, but he will be hoping to bounce back to his better form today.

MOMACK is drawn one outside the latter and has finished second in his last two runs, the latest over a mile, just under two and a half lengths back from the winner. He tried to go from jump to wire that day and was only collared late. He is likely to adopt similar tactics today and could prove difficult to reel in over the closing stages.

Race 8

This looks to be a tricky race to end off the day’s Jackpot with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. The tentative top pick goes to BEAUCHAMP who showed good improvement to win his last start over 1100M by just under a length and a half. He showed plenty of toe that day and the form of that race has been franked. From his cozy draw two, he could lead the field on a merry dance.

NORTHERNERO won his penultimate outing over five furlongs and then jumped awkwardly, but ran on strongly from some way back to end up in fourth place next time out over 1175M, just over two and a half lengths behind the winner. He gets 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice and is sure to put his pole position to good use.

HARDWARE LANE raced just behind the leaders before kicking clear at the 200M pole, only to be run out of it late last time out over 1065M, just under two lengths back from the winner. He on the other hand has drawn wide in gate thirteen, but nonetheless he should not be easily dismissed and should be included in all bets.
