Race 4

POWDER MAN has consistent formlines to his name and followed up his penultimate run victory over 1100M with a second place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, 0.7L back from the winner, but he did come three wide into the home straight that day, before staying on well over the closing stages. The form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning and whilst draw wide in gate nine, he should be doing his best work late and is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

UNCERTAIN TERMS is seldom far off the action, finishing second last time out over five furlongs, 3.8L back from the winner, but he shifted out from the 300M mark in that contest, costing himself valuable ground. The gelding gets draw five and will have 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

SUPIDOMAN won over five furlongs three runs back, finished second in his penultimate start over the same c&d and then third in his latest outing over the same trip, 4.7L behind the winner. He will be having his peak run after returning from a 21 week break and has a useful gate three, so should not be easily overlooked.

Race 5

BONCASSIE is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has cracked pole position and was bumped at the start, but recovered quickly to pick up the lead before being collared late to finish fifth last start over 1350M, just over two lengths behind the winner and the form of that race has been franked. She returns here after a 17 week break without having had the benefit of a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust, but she still looks to be the one to side with here.

VENTURA OCEAN jumped awkwardly bumping another runner and raced three wide without cover from the 800M pole when finishing nineth last time out over 1300M, just under three and a half lengths back from the victor, but that was at a stronger center. The gelding has puller gate seven and should be right up there when they hit the line.

KOSCIUSKO battled all the way down to the wire when ending up in fifth place in his latest outing over six furlongs, just under three lengths adrift of the winner, but that was also at a stronger center. The gets draw four and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

MIKADO had to be held up at the 100M mark, but finished well when clear to end up in nineth spot last time out over seven furlongs, four lengths behind the winner. He jumps from a handy draw two and will be looking to chalk up his eighth career win today.

BAGLIONI jumped awkwardly and was hampered at the 150M pole when beaten a short-head last time out over 1500M, so could be considered an unlucky loser. The gelding will have to negotiate a wide draw nine, but he will be hoping to go one better today.

ZOUKINA is a 6yr old mare taking on the boys and was slow away, but stayed on well to finish eighth in her latest outing over six furlongs, 4.8L adrift of the victor. She will have to deal with a wider draw eleven, but she will be having her peak run after returning from a 24 week spell.

Race 7

The day’s best bet, PASSIONATE REBEL goes for his hat-trick after victories over 1500M and the latest over a mile, albeit by just a short-head, but he had to be eased at the 500M mark, before finishing off his race strongly, so that effort was encouraging. The gelding will have to overcome a wide draw nine, but he is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race.

SWIFT CHARM overraced three wide without cover in the middle stages and found himself in front on entering the home straight, but, not unsurprisingly, he was unable to go on with his effort over the latter stages. Whist drawn even wider in gate thirteen, given better behavior in this race, he could be the biggest danger to the top pick.

AGIRLSBESTFRIEND is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight when finishing sixth last time out over seven furlongs, 3.3L behind the winner. She on the other hand has a useful draw three and will be having her peak run after returning from an 18 week absence and should be involved in the finish.
