Race 5

With the late scratching of one of her main rivals, the door may have opened for today’s value bet, PRUSCINO to chalk up her fourth career victory. She won over seven furlongs three runs back and then put her disappointing penultimate start behind her when finishing sixth last time out over five furlongs, just under three lengths behind the winner when returning from a 10 week rest. She had to be held up at the entrance to the home straight that day and does face a wide draw fifteen here, but on the plus side, she will get 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

MY GIRONA showed solid improvement to win her maiden race last time out over this c&d by 1.3L when going from jump to wire. She has not fared any better with her draw, pulling one outside the top choice, but she is a speedy sort who should be able to work her way across without using up too much energy.

AFTERSHOCK also won last time out, but in her case over seven furlongs by 2.3L despite hanging out from the 200M mark. She return from a 20 week absence without having had a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust and is drawn the widest of them all in gate twenty, but given her style of racing, she is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the closing stages of the race.

Race 6

BLITZAR followed up his penultimate run victory over 1300M with a second place finish next time out over five furlongs, 0.8L back from the winner, but he jumped awkwardly and came the widest of them all into the home straight that day. He faces a wide draw eighteen, but will almost certainly be dropped out of it early and the deliver a strong finish over the latter stages.

NORTHERNERO is seldom far off the action and was slow away, before making good late progress over the closing stages to end up in third place last time out over 1100M, just over two lengths back from the winner. He will have to negotiate gate thirteen, but will get 3kgs removed from his allocated weigh courtesy of his claiming apprentice to aid his cause. GUSONIC won his penultimate outing over seven furlongs and then finished tenth last time out over 1300m, 2.8L adrift of the victor, but the form of that race has been franked. From his kinder draw five, he should be included in all bets.

Race 7

PRINCE OF HELENA won his penultimate start over 1700M and then finished in second spot last time out over today’s journey, beaten just a short-head in the shadow of the post. He attracted plenty of betting support that day and notwithstanding a wide draw eighteen, he will he hoping to make amends today.

GUNGA DIN has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, the latest when second over a mile, just a half length adrift of the victor and the form of that race has been franked. He was slow away in that contest, but finished off his race well. He gets gate eight and will be having his peak run after returning from a 27 week break and should be right up there when they hit the wire.

DOLPHINA is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she goes for her hat-trick after victories over a mile and the latest over nine furlongs by 1.3L. She will have to overcome a wide gate sixteen, but she should be doing her best work late and the trio is very much on the cards.

Race 8

The day’s best bet, PATRIKA MIST is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she has only had the three runs to date and won her penultimate start over six furlongs and then finished fourth last time out over seven furlongs, just under a length and a half adrift of the winner. She raced just behind the leaders that day and then finished off her race well. She would no doubt have come on further with that run under her belt and from gate eight, she could prove hard to topple in this line-up.

LUMBER DREAM also won his penultimate outing, but over a mile and then ended up in second place next time out over ten furlongs, two and a half lengths behind the winner. He faces a wide draw eighteen, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

LEGAL AWARD is drawn one inside the latter and was slow away before finishing fourth last time out over seven furlongs, one and a half lengths off the winner. He raced just behind the leaders in that race and is likely to attempt similar tactics today.
