Race 5

BOSTON ROCKS finished eighth over 1100M on debut and then showed the expected improvement to put 2.8L between himself and the opposition to win next time out over five furlongs, when having his first run for his new trainer and returning from a 22 week break. He was bumped at the start that day and also lost an off-fore shoe in running, so that effort was encouraging. He would have come on further with that run under his belt and from his handy draw three, he is made the best bet on the day’s card.

GARDENZIO followed up his penultimate run victory over 1100M with a fifth place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, 2.2L back from the winner. He showed plenty of toe in that event and from gate five and with having 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

SERENE NIC is a four year old filly taking on the boys, but she had her consistency rewarded with a half length victory last time out over seven furlongs and was immediately rested for 26 weeks. She returns here after having had the benefit of two barrier trials and is drawn one inside the latter. With her having a greater 4kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice, she should be involved in the finish.

Race 6

ALLHALLOWTIDE won over today’s journey three runs back, finished sixth in his penultimate start over nine furlongs and then second in his latest outing over 1500M, just a head behind the winner, but he was bumped at the start that day and came four wide into the home straight, as well as returning from a 14 week break. The gelding faces a wide draw ten, but on the plus side, he will have 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

OAKFIELD REDGUM is a five year old mare taking on males, but she has consistent formlines to her name and followed up her penultimate run win over a mile with a fifth place finish next time out over the same trip, 1.7L back from the winner. She stayed on well in that contest and the form of that race has been franked. She gets the service of a 3kg claiming apprentice and should be right up there when they hit the line.

DREAMDEEL also won his penultimate run, but in his case over nine furlongs and then finished fifth next time out over 1300M, just under two lengths off the victor when coming four wide into the home straight and resuming from a shorter 12 week rest. He on the other hand is drawn the widest of them all, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

Race 7

CHIPPER is seldom far off the action and was bumped shortly after the start, but he recovered quickly to take up the lead only to be run out of it over the closing stages, ending up in third place last time out over six furlongs, two and a half lengths back from the winner and the form of that race has been franked. He gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, he should be a big runner here, jumping from a useful gate four.

MR BINGO overraced in the early stages when finishing third last time out over five furlongs, 1.2L behind the winner and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. The gelding jumps from draw six and will have 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

VEGAS RAIDER was slow away and was then disappointed for a run at the 300M pole and never really saw daylight down the home straight to finish tenth last time out over five furlongs, 7.2L adrift of the victor, so that run should be totally ignored. He will have to negotiate a wide gate nine, but nevertheless, he should be included in all bets.

Race 8

PRINCESS AMIRA is a six year old mare taking on boys, but she put her disappointing penultimate start over six furlongs behind her when winning by a half length last time out over seven furlongs, this despite being hampered down at the start. She still managed to race just behind the frontrunners that day, before striking the front at the top of the home straight and then holding off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. She gets a 3kg claiming apprentice in the irons and should put her pole position to good use.

CHAIN OF GOLD disappointed after two solid last runs when finishing eleventh last time out over seven furlongs, 8.7L adrift of the winner, but it should be noted that he was bumped at the start, came three wide approaching the home turn as well as being reported to be coughing post-race and found to be lame, so that outing is best ignored. From his cozy draw three, he should keep the top pick honest.

DANZA IN THE DARK had finished second in his two runs prior to be disappointing last time out when finishing twelfth over 1500M, 19.3 lengths back from the winner, but he did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight that day, having to be held up at the 300M mark and then severely checked at the 250M pole, so a line should be drawn through that effort. The gelding has draw five and should be included in all bets.
