Race 5

BOW has finished third in his first two runs, the latest over five furlongs, just over three and a half lengths behind the winner, but he was unbalanced shortly after the start that day and raced green in the home straight. The form of that race has however stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He will have to negotiate gate eight, but will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to aid his cause.

INARI FOX put his disappointing penultimate run behind him when making good late progress to finish second last time out over five furlongs, one and a half lengths behind the winner when returning from a 28 week break. He faces a wide draw eleven out of twelve, but he should be doing his best work late.

SIR RAVANELLI stayed on well when ending up in fifth place last time out over five furlongs, 4.3l back from the winner when making his debut and the form of that race has been franked. He returns from an 11 week rest and has not had a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust and will also face a widish gate nine, but he would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, he should be a contender here.

Race 6

The day’s best bet, FIELD REGIMENT has finished second in his last two starts and battled all the way down to the wire when just 0.8L off the winner in his latest outing over 1300M. He has his first run since a 38 week break, but did finish second in his only barrier trial to showcase his well-being. The colt is drawn wide in gate ten, but he will be hoping to go one better today.

SPORTSPAK tried to go from jump to wire before ending up in third place last time out over a mile, two lengths back from the winner. He has pulled gate seven and could emerge as the biggest threat to the top choice. TONQUANI has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, the latest when sixth over 1300M, 4.2L adrift of the victor, but he had to be held up at the entrance to the home straight that day. From draw five, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 7

This looks to be a tricky F&M Handicap with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. AMBER DELUXE showed marked improvement despite coming three wide into the home straight to finish third last time out over five furlongs, one and a half lengths behind the winner when returning from a 32 week absence. She will have to overcome a wide draw eleven, but on the plus side, she will have 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

CASINO SILK overraced in the early and middle stages and came four wide into the home stretch before finishing fifth in her latest outing over 1500M, just under three and a half lengths off the winner. From her kinder draw two, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

BALLISTIC BABE stayed on well when eighth last time out over 1300M, 4.3L back from the winner and the form of that race has been franked. She jumps from a useful draw four and should not be lightly dismissed in this line-up.

Race 8

LUCAP showed solid improvement when stepping up to 1300m to finish third last time out over 1300m, 0.7L behind the winner. He was friendless in the betting markets that day and was badly hampered at the start in that contest, so the effort was encouraging. Jumping from a cozy draw two, he is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

ALBANJO finished strongly to win his last start over 1100M by half a length, going away from the opposition over the closing stages. He gets gate seven and the double is very much on the cards.

FLYING PRETTY is a 6yr old mare taking on the boys, but she is seldom far off the action, finish fourth last time out over seven furlongs, 2.3L back from the victor, notwithstanding coming three wide into the home straight. She is drawn one inside the latter and should give the males a good run for their money.
