Race 5

There are four unraced runners in the field, so as is always the case in these types of races, a keen eye should be kept on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether any of the connections believe that they can win first-time out. Any betting support for a runner or runners should be respected. Of the raced runners LADY FRAULEIN may well prove to be the best. She is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but her last three runs have yielded a second, a third and the latest, a fifth-place finish over six furlongs, 4.8L behind the winner, but she raced wide without cover that day and was returning from an 18-week rest, as well as having her first run for her new trainer. From her handy draw two, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

YEHBUT is seldom too far off the action, finishing fifth last time out over six furlongs, 3.7L back from the winner. He overraced in the early stages and bumped the running rail at the 800M mark, so had his excuses. The gelding has a wide gate eleven, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

DIAMOND LILY is another 4tr old filly in the race. She showed marked improvement when ending up in third place last time out over six furlongs, just a half-length back from the winner and if she is able to repeat that effort, she should be considered a big runner here, despite her being drawn the widest of them all in gate fourteen.

Race 6

As with the previous race, there are a number of unraced runners in this contest, so the same comment in respect of keeping an eye on the betting moves applies here as well. Two 3yr old and a 4yr old filly could however fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but INVEST IN LOVE is taken to lead the field home. She has consistent formlines to her name, finishing fourth in her latest outing over six furlongs, just over a length behind the victor. She jumped awkwardly and overraced in the early stages of that contest and then came three wide into the home straight and whilst facing a wideish draw eight, she should turn in another honest effort today.

MISS VIOLET stayed on well when eighth last time out over five furlongs and was immediately rested for 32 weeks. She returns here after winning her only barrier trial and from her useful draw two, she could be the one to pick up the pieces should the top choice fluff her lines.

STIORRA raced up with the speed when finishing fifth on debut over five furlongs, 2.8L behind the winner. She would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected from gate five, she should be included in all bets.

Race 7

With the late scratchings of two of his main rivals, the door may have opened for today’s best bet, JET PACK to chalk up his fifth career victory. He goes for his hat-trick after two wins over 1100M, albeit the latest by just a short-head. He struck the front at the 100M pole that day and notwithstanding hanging out, he was able to hold off the chasing pack in the dash down to the wire. The form of that race has been franked and from gate five, he could prove hard to topple.

ROYAL CHARGE has won two of his last four runs and followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a fifth-place finish next time out over today’s journey, just over three lengths back from the winner. He raced three wide without cover and then hung in all the way down the home stretch on that occasion, but has pulled a cosy draw two and he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick.

OTTILIE is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she jumped awkwardly and was bumped shortly after the start when ending up in fifth place last time out over 1300M, 3.3L behind the winner. The form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She will have to negotiate draw nine, but she should be involved in the finish.

Race 8

The day’s value bet, CHIKY CHIKY MAMA is a 4yr old filly taking on boys, but she had her consistency rewarded with her maiden victory by a length last time out over five furlongs when returning from a 26-week break, which clearly was just what she had needed. She went from jump to wire that day and from her wideish gate eight, she is likely to attempt similar tactics today.

G’DAY POOPSIE showed solid improvement to finish fourth in his latest outing over five furlongs, two and a half lengths behind the victor when returning from a longer 63-week spell. The gelding has pulled gate five and the fact that his connections have brought him back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that he still has something more to offer them.

MADIBA ROSE is another 4yr old filly in the race. She was disappointed when finishing eighth last time out over six furlongs, 10.2L off the winner, but that was in very heavy going. She returns here after a 21-week rest without having had the benefit of a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust, but she has cracked pole position and will be hoping to bounce back to some of her better form today.
