Race 5

CIGAR FLICK had solid form prior to turning in a disappointing effort when finishing twelfth last time out over 1100M, 7.8L behind the winner, but he was slow to recover that day and was immediately rested for 17 weeks. He returns here after having had the benefit of a barrier trial and from a handy draw two, he will be hoping to bounce back to his better form here.

INTRODUCING jumped awkwardly, but recovered quickly to take up the lead, only to be run out of it late to end up in fourth place last time out over six furlongs, 2.8L back from the victor. He was returning from a 20-week rest that day and will get a set of blinkers re-fitted for the day’s contest. If this move has the desired effect, he should be a big runner here, jumping from gate six.

LAVISH EMPIRE followed up his penultimate run victory over 1300M with a ninth place finish next time out over seven furlongs, just over four lengths back from the winner, but it should be noted that he had to be held up on the home turn in that event. The form of that race has however stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning and whilst drawn wideish in gate eight, he should be included in all bets.

Race 6

INFINITIVE is a 4-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight, only seeing daylight at the 150M mark, before finishing well, ending up in fourth spot last time out over a mile, just over a length behind the winner and the form of the race has been franked. She has also finished third in a subsequent barrier trial and will be having her peak run after returning from a lengthy 43-week spell and despite her wideish draw eight, she is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card to give the trainer/jockey combination of Chris Waller and James McDonald the first two legs of the day’s Jackpot.

THE YEARS tried to go from jump to wire when finishing fifth in his latest outing over 1500M, 2.8L off the winner. He will have his peak run after returning from a shorter 23-week break and from draw five, he is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today.

ZONDEE won over 1500M three runs back, finished fifth in his penultimate start over a mile and was then hampered shortly after the start and raced three wide without cover when finishing ninth in his latest outing over seven furlongs, 5.7L behind the winner. The colt was returning from a 14-week rest that day and finished seventh in a subsequent barrier trial. From draw three, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 7

ANGEL FUND has cracked pole position and won her penultimate start over 1100M and then finished second in her next start over the same sprint trip, just 0.8L behind the winner. She finished powerfully from some way back in that event and looks to be the one to side with here.

WAIKIKI on the other hand faces a wide draw ten, but she raced four wide into the home stretch before battling all the way down to the wire to finish third in her latest outing over 1100M, three and a half lengths behind the winner. The filly has her first run after a 20-week rest, but has had the benefit of three barrier trails.

AMOREAUX is the stable companion of the top choice who won her maiden race in her penultimate outing over 1100M and then jumped awkwardly, bumping another runner and came three wide into the home straight before finishing fifth next time out over six furlongs, just under three lengths back from the winner. She gets a kinder draw four and makes a solid back-up for the powerful Chris Waller yard.

Race 8

The day’s value bet, EARTH DANCE has only had two runs to date, finishing third on debut over ten furlongs and then showing the expected improvement to win next time out over the same journey by three lengths, both of which were in France. He returns from a 27-week break, but has had two barrier trials and has his first run for his new trainer in Australia. If fully settled into his new surroundings, he should give a good account of himself, notwithstanding being drawn the widest of them all.

STYLISED had consistent formlines prior to finishing sixth in his last outing over seven furlongs, 13.3L adrift of the winner, but he raced three wide without cover and came four wide into the home stretch. The gelding was also reported to have been slow to recover. He has finished second in a subsequent barrier trial and from gate seven, he will be hoping for a form return today.

ROMEO’S CHOICE is seldom far off the action, finishing fourth last time out over 1300M, just over one length back from the winner, but he was bumped at the start and raced three wide without cover and a wider five into the home straight, before staying on well all the way down to the wire. The gelding has pulled a wide gate nine, but he should not be easily dismissed.
