Race 4

HIGHLAND ROCKER showed good improvement to finish second last time out over twelve furlongs, just a half-length behind the winner, despite coming four wide into the home straight. He hit the front at the 350M mark that day but started to hang out over the closing stages to be run out of it late. The form of that race has been franked and whilst he is drawn the widest of them all in gate thirteen, on the plus side, he will get 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

BAK DA MAN followed up his penultimate run victory over ten furlongs with a third place finish next time out over 2100M, 1.2L back from the winner, but he was hampered at the 150M pole that day, before finish off his race well. He should be right up there from his kinder gate four when they hit the line.

AWESOME WONDER is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she won over 2100M three runs back and had to be steadied off the heels of other runners at the 1600M mark and again at the 700M pole before coming four wide into the home straight to end up in fifth place last time out over nine furlongs, 3.3L adrift of the victor. She has her peak run after returning from an 18-week break and from draw seven, she should be included in all bets.

Race 5

The day’s best bet, VINDICATION has finished second in his last two starts, the latest over today’s sprint trip, beaten just a short-head. He attracted plenty of betting support that day and showed lots of toe before costing himself valuable ground by hanging out over the closing stages. The form of that race has been franked, and although drawn wide in gate nine, he will be having his peak run after returning from a 35-week break and he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

LORD PARAMOUNT has posted two solid last runs, the latest when third over five furlongs, just a neck behind the winner. He kicked clear at the 100M mark and looked a winner before being nabbed on the line. He could be the biggest threat to the top choice from his kinder draw four.

WALKIN’TALKIN’ has cracked pole position and won his penultimate run over 1100M and then finished third last time out over six furlongs, just under a half-length off the winner. He was slow away that day, but recovered quickly to take up the lead, only to be reeled in over the latter stages. The gelding gets 3kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice and should be involved in the finish.

Race 6

TIDAL IMPACT is a speedy sort who finished second over five furlongs in her penultimate start and then third last time out over 1100M, 1.2L behind the winner. She has pulled a handy draw two and will be having her peak run after returning from a 23 week spell and is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

VIENTIANE has only had the two runs to date winning over 1100M on debut and then finishing eighth next time out when stepping up to six furlongs, six lengths adrift of the winner, but it should be noted that she overraced in the early stages and came four wide into the home straight in that contest. She returns from a 17-week spell but did finish third in her only barrier trial to showcase her well-being. From gate four and getting 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice, Zac Lloyd, son of ex-SA champion jockey Jeff Lloyd, she should be considered a big runner here.

GLACIER QUEEN returns from a slightly shorter 16-week break but has posted two encouraging barrier trials. She was bumped shortly after the start and then hampered at the 400M mark, before eventually hanging out all the way down the home stretch to end up in sixth spot last time out over 1100M, just under five lengths behind the winner, so that effort is best ignored. She will have to negotiate a wide draw fourteen, but she should be doing her best work late.

Race 7

COOL LAD has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, the latest when fourth over 1300M, 1.2L behind the victor, and finished fifth in a subsequent barrier trial. He finished strongly that day and gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time today. He should be a big runner here if these have the desired effect. From his cozy draw two, he could be the one to side with here.

OTTILIE is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she missed out on her hat-trick after victories over 1100M and 1300M when fourth last time out over 1100M, just over three lengths off the winner. She was returning from a 29-week spell that day and showed plenty of speed. She gets gate seven and could provide 3kg claiming apprentice Zac Lloyd with a second winner in the day’s Jackpot.

JAMESONHEART won his penultimate run over 1300M and then finished second in his latest outing over 1300M, just a neck behind the winner. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate twenty, but he is a speedy sort who should be able to work his way across without using up too much gas.
