Race 4

SWEET BABY BOOM has cracked pole position and goes for his hat-trick after victories over 1100M and the latest over six furlongs by 2.3L. He went from jump to wire that day and with her having 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice, she is likely to attempt similar tactics today.

AVEBURY showed marked improvement when finishing a head second last time out over 1300M, despite coming three wide into the home straight. She battled all the way down to the wire that day and was slightly interfered with at the 50M mark. The objection lodged against the winner was however overruled and the original result stood. She has a handy draw three and should be right up there when they hit the line.

AMATI stayed on well over the closing stages when ending up in seventh place last time out over 1300M, 4.2L adrift of the winner, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to her liking. She is drawn one inside the latter and should be included in all bets.

Race 5

STROMBOLI followed up his penultimate run victory over 1100M with a third place finish next time out over six furlongs, just under a half lengths back from the winner, this after jumping awkwardly and bumping another runner, overracing in the early stages and being hampered at the 1000M mark. The gelding has a useful gate three, as well as having 3kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice.

CAPO STRADA had his consistency rewarded with a 0.8L victory last time out over 1300M. He finished off his race strongly on that occasion and whilst draw the widest of them all in gate ten, he gets the services of in-form, but non- claiming apprentice, Zac Lloyd, son of ex-SA champion jockey, Jeff Lloyd, to aid his cause. The gelding does return from a 22 week break, but has had two barrier trials, finishing second in them both.

AWESOME LAD has posted two solid last runs and although recorded as finishing sixth last time out over seven furlongs, he was just 1.3L back from the winner, notwithstanding racing green down the home straight. He has his first run after a shorter 17 week rest, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials and although having to negotiate a wideish gate eight, he should not be easily overlooked.

Race 6

RHYTHM OF LOVE won his penultimate run over six furlongs and followed that up with a second place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, 0,8L off the winner, but he jumped awkwardly bumping another runner in that event and then came three wide into the home stretch, before hanging in all the way down to the wire. He has his peak run after returning from a 15 week rest and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card, as he is sure to put his pole position to good use.

BODY BOB completed his hat-trick for his new trainer when winning his last start over six furlongs, putting 3.8L between himself and the opposition. He showed plenty of toe in that event and from a wide gate nine, he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

DIFFERENT STROKES is seldom far off the action, finishing fourth last time out over seven furlongs, just over three and a half lengths back from the winner. He jumped awkwardly, but recovered quickly to race just behind the leaders and then stayed on well over the latter stages. From his kinder draw three, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, PANIC was hampered at the start, but was still able to race up with the pace before staying on well to win first time out over 1100M by 1.3L. He would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, the gelding could well be good enough to chalk up a quick double.

MURAL CROWN won first time out over six furlongs and then came three wide into the home straight and battled all the way down to the wire when ending up in third spot next time out over 1100M, just under a half lengths off the winner. The colt is drawn one inside the top pick and will have apprentice Zac Lloyd on board.

GREECE is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys and was returning from a 24 week spell when finishing third last time out over six furlongs, two and a half lengths behind the winner. She will have to deal with a wide gate thirteen, but she is a speedy sort who should be able to work her way across without using up too much gas. She will also get a set of blinkers fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, she should be a big runner here.
