Race 3

DAZZLE LEGEND has consistent formlines to his name, finishing third last time out over 1100M, 1.2L behind the winner. He gets a handy draw-two and looks to be the one that they all must beat.

BEAUTY BOUND is a 4-year-old filly taking on the boys. She finished second on debut over five furlongs, just a head back from the winner. She on the other hand is drawn the widest of them all in gate twelve, but she would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

TAMAROA finished fourth in his last two runs and overraced throughout when ending up just under three lengths back from the victor last time out over six furlongs and was immediately rested for 27 weeks. The colt returns here after having had two barrier trials, finishing third in the latest. He has not fared that much better with his gate ten, but he will have non-claiming apprentice, Zac Lloyd, son of ex-SA champion jockey, Jeff Lloyd in the irons, so he will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle. There is an unraced runner in the field, so keep an eye on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether his connections believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for him should be respected.

Race 4

SUMO STAR is seldom far off the action, finishing third last time out over six furlongs, two lengths back from the winner. He raced up with the pace that day, striking the front at the 150M mark, only to be run out of it late. The gelding has his peak run after returning from a 14-week rest and from his useful draw two, he his likely to turn in another honest performance today.

ATLANTIC OCEAN was bumped on the home turn, but finished well to win his last start over this c&d, albeit by just a short-head and the form of that race has been franked. From draw five, he could emerge as the biggest threat to the top pick.

LEMAIRE has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three starts, the latest when third over six furlongs, 0.8L behind the winner, but he was bumped shortly after the start and had to be held up on the home turn, bumping another runner in the process. The gelding is drawn one inside the latter and will get the services of Zac Lloyd to aid his cause.

Race 5

CRAFTY EAGLE has consistent formlines to his credit, his nine runs to date having yielded three wins, three second place finishes and one-third place, the latest, one of those second-place finishes over a mile, 1.3L behind the winner. He overraced wide without cover on that occasion, so that effort was encouraging, given the extra ground he had to travel. The gelding has pulled draw seven and is made the best bet on the day’s card. He does return from a 21-week rest, but finished second in the latest barrier trial to showcase his well-being.

MISS HELLFIRE is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but her last three runs have produced two seconds and her latest, a third-place finish over 1100M, two lengths back from the winner, when returning from a 20-week break. She made good late progress that day and whilst drawn the widest in gate nine, she will have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice and should be doing her best work late.

KING OF NAPLES won over 1300M three runs back and then finished second in his next two starts, the first over 1300M and the latest over six furlongs, just a head behind the winner. He did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight that day, only seeing daylight at the 350M mark before finishing off his race well. The gelding returns after a 15 week absence, but has finished second in both of his barrier trials and should be involved in the finish.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, CRYSTAL WATERS has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three starts, the latest when third over seven furlongs, two lengths off the winner, but she jumped awkwardly bumping another runner shortly after the start on that occasion, before battling all the way down to the wire. She has gate five and will have 3kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

OH GOLLY GOSH has finished second in her last two runs, the latest over seven furlongs, just a neck back from the victor, this despite coming four wide into the home straight. She will have to deal with the widest draw of them all in gate twelve, but she is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race.

AND WE DANCED showed marked improvement to win her last start over 1300M by 1.8L, when returning from a 63 week spell and having her first run for her new stable. The fact that her connections brought her back into racing after such a lengthy absence seem to have been vindicated and although drawn wide in gate eleven, on the plus side, she will have 3kgs taken off her back for the services of a 3kg claiming apprentice.
