NEW ORLEANS has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She showed pace, but raced wide around the turn before getting caught late last time. She has won once and finished second twice from six starts over this C&D. The daughter of What A Winter would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. She is the form horse in the race and may be rewarded for consistency.

GRANDE LUPO set the pace over this C&D last time and stayed on to finish third. It is encouraging that Keagan de Melo keeps faith in the ride and with a bit of luck from his awkward draw of eight, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

The son of What A Winter has dropped to a competitive rating. He is the stable elect with Athandiwe Mgudlwa in the saddle and can notch up his sixth career victory.
