The Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge is upping the ante for Saturday’s Gold Challenge! There will be a guaranteed R200 000 to be split among the top 50 on the leaderboard on the day, as well as an estimated jackpot of R2 million for the player/s who can find all the winners on the day!
- “The Challenge” related to the Hollywoodbets Gold Challenge, Saturday 10 June 2023.
- “The Challenge” is open to all customers, registered as an account holder with Hollywoodbets.
- A single entry is free for registered players.
- Players who don’t have an account with Hollywoodbets will be redirected to the registration page and, on successful registration, their new login credentials will be used for the Punters’ Challenge competition.
- Players can enter “The Challenge” at any point, up to 5-minutes before the first race at the respective venue.
- Players will have the option to enter with their given name (as per the details on their betting account) or to create a non-de-plume to disguise their identity.
- Hollywoodbets and its authorised agents reserve the right to amend, at any time, the ‘non de plume’/alias/username of a player should it be considered, at the sole discretion of Hollywoodbets, offensive or inappropriate in any manner.
- “The Challenge” applies only to the race-meeting at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday 10 June 2023. Prize money of R100 000 for the meeting shall be shared by the Top 50 on the leaderboard as follows:
Winner: R40 000
2nd Place: R20 000
3rd place: R10 000
4th place: R5 000
5th place: R2 500
6th to 10th: place R1 500
11th to 20th: place R700
21st to 30th: place R400
31st to 50th: place R200 - Where racing is curtailed or abandoned for whatsoever reason during a meeting, then this daily prize shall be pro-rated based on the number of races completed vs the races carded on the day, provided that a minimum of five (5) races are completed. For example, if 8 races are completed on an 10-race card, then the total prize money of R80 000 (R100 000/10*8) shall be distributed to the top 50 players.
- Bet Slip Bonus – the daily prize money as detailed above and for all finishing positions, will be doubled for those players who have had a bet on the Punters Challenge Bet Slip, to the value of R50 or more, prior to the running of the first race.
- Prize monies will be paid into the winners’ Hollywoodbets account only. There are no conditions applicable to this payment and funds may be withdrawn or used for betting at the discretion of the customer. Dead-heat rules apply to all place positions.
- Prize monies will be paid into the winners’ Hollywoodbets account by 12:00pm, on the day after a qualifying round of the Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge.
- Punters Jackpot
The Punters Jackpot prize will be paid to a player/s who picks all the winners on any race day*. The value of this prize will be determined by the number of runners at the race meeting multiplied by R10 000 for all venues. For example, if there are 88 carded runners and 5 scratchings, then the Punters Jackpot prize will be based on 83 runners at R10 000 each, giving a value of R830 000 as the prize. Bet Slip bonus rules do not apply for this prize.
An estimated Punters Jackpot prize of R2 Million will be paid to the player/s who pick all the winners on the race day*. Bet Slip Bonus rules apply. Prize amount is subject to scratchings.
Dead-heat rules apply in the event of multiple winning players i.e. – the total prize will be split equally amongst the winning players. This is an all or nothing prize! There is no pro-rating of this prize in the event of a curtailed or abandoned meeting.
The race day is defined as the full programme of events, with a minimum of ten (10) races, all of which are completed, and an official result declared for each race. - Must Be Won
At Hollywoodbets discretion, it may select a race meeting to become a “Must Be Won” meeting, where a stipulated sum of money will be won on the following terms:
The player/s who tips the most winners on the day will win the stipulated amount. Dead-heat rules apply in the event of multiple winning players tipping the same number of winners.
The points system normally applicable as detailed below will NOT apply to this “Must Be Won” prize as the winner/s will be the player/s who tip the most winners on the day, irrespective of the starting price of those winners. - Points System – every point counts! Points are allocated according to the Official finishing position of each horse in the race. The number of points on offer is dependent on the number of horses participating (official runners) in the race.
Points are awarded in accordance with the horses’ finishing positions i.e. – in a 10-horse field, the winner will be awarded ten (10) points, 2nd place is nine (9) points and so on with the last horse being awarded one (1) point. Similarly, in a 16-horse field, the winner will be awarded 16 points and the last horse just a single point.
In addition, points will be awarded according to the price of the winner only. The winning selection will get a bonus of the Hollywoodbets starting price. If the winner of a 12-horse race starts at 12.5/1 (13.5) then the punters selecting the horse will be awarded 25.5 points (being 12 plus an additional 13.5 points for the starting price).
A horse/jockey combination must be declared a runner in the race to be awarded any points.
Where a dead-heat is declared for any position, then dead-heat rules will apply and the contestants will each receive half of the aggregated points on offer. So, for example, a dead-heat for 3rd and 4th in the 10-horse race will see the affected horses each being awarded 7.5 points ((8+7)/2).
Where a dead-heat is declared for first place, then the dead-heat rules will apply to both the finishing position (as above) and the starting price bonus. So, for example, a dead-heat for first and second place in the 10-horse race will see the affected horses each being awarded 9.5 points ((10+9)/2). Where the one horse was priced at 9/1 and the other at 3/1, then the starting price bonus will be 5 (10/2) points to the former and 2 (4/2) points to the latter.
Where a horse is pulled up in a race, it will be considered to have finished last and will be awarded one point. Where more than one horse is pulled up, then they shall share the bottom positions and shall share the points allocation. For example, if two horses are pulled up then they shall share three (3) points (1+2).
Cumulative points awarded will be updated after each race.
Points earned for each race will be totalled and the punters with the highest aggregate number of points for that meeting shall be awarded the prize money as detailed above. In the event of a dead-heat for any positions, then the dead-heat rules will apply.
The final allocation of points shall be adjudicated and finalised by the Hollywoodbets Team and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the process or the outcome.
Failure to make selections for the race meeting will result in zero points. - The Punters Challenge Bet Slip
The bet slip allows players to take various betting options based on their saved selections. The stakes wagered for these bets will be taken from the player’s Hollywoodbets account and all winnings will be credited to the same account. All bets taken and the progress thereof can be viewed on the players account.
The bet slip now offers the players the option to select an option of the current market price or the starting price (SP) of their selection. Where no current betting is available, the SP option will be mandatory when taking a bet.
All bets taken on this bet slip are subject to the company’s General Terms & Conditions – particularly section 2.14 relating to Maximum Winnings – and the company’s Horse Racing Rules.
Bets will only be accepted by Hollywoodbets if there are sufficient funds in the players account. - Hollywoodbets accepts no liability and the player hereby indemnifies Hollywoodbets of any liability for a player being unable to take bets on their selections, for whatever reason Scratchings and disqualifications – any selection of a scratching will be assigned the official tote favourite for the race. In the event there are dual tote favourites in a race, the highest placed finisher (of the tote favourites) will be assigned to the scratching.
- A horse disqualified after having run a race will be deemed to have run last and will earn one point, with each horse that finished behind it being promoted.
- If the race meeting is rescheduled from its original date to another day, the challenge shall be re-opened for selections prior to the rescheduled date. The original selections shall be voided and only the reselected entries shall apply.
- Change of venue – if the South African venue changes (before 11 am on race day) then punters will have the option to retain their original selection or create new selections on a new selection grid. Where no new selections are made, the original selections will remain as valid selections.
- Entries will only be accepted up until five (5)-minutes before the carded time of the first race. The meeting will be closed at that time and no selections will be accepted after that time for any reason whatsoever.
- It is the responsibility of each entrant to pick, process and save their selections. Team Members at Hollywoodbets and/or the independent developers of the Punters’ Challenge system cannot process entries on behalf of any other person for any reason whatsoever. It is each person’s responsibility to ensure their selections are recorded before the closing time of “The Challenge”.
- Selections may be amended up to the cut-off time and any and all changes must be saved.
- “The Challenge” is intended for recreational purposes only. Should any participant be suspected of abusing the spirit of “The Challenge”, Hollywoodbets reserves the right to withdraw any prize money awarded.
- Hollywoodbets and its authorised agents reserve the right to vary, suspend, postpone or terminate the competition or any aspect thereof, for any reasons whatsoever and without notice. In such event, participants hereby waive any rights or expectations, which they may have against Hollywoodbets or its authorised agents and acknowledge that they will not have any recourse or claim of any nature against Hollywoodbets or its authorised agents.

- This competition is closed to any persons who are directors, members, partners, employees, agents or consultants of Hollywoodbets or any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by Hollywoodbets or marketing service providers, or spouses, life partners, business partners or immediate family members of all of the above. Such persons participating will compete in an internal challenge and be subjected to those challenge rules.
