PREVIEW: Some crackers in-store in final round of Gallagher Premiership

It’s the final set of regular-season matches of the Gallagher Premiership this season. Only Gloucester – who host Saracens – can realistically gatecrash the top 4, while the tie of the round sees Harlequins travel to Exeter.

Saturday 4 June

Leicester 29/100 | Draw 33/1 | Wasps 26/10 (16:00)

Leicester will look to cement top spot this season with victory over Wasps at Welford Road. The Tigers are three points ahead of second-placed Saracens and shouldn’t slip up in the final round. Wasps, sitting ninth and four points off the top seven, will have to make do with Challenge Cup rugby next season.

Get on Leicester to secure the win and top spot on the standings.

Saints 1/25 | Draw 55/1 | Newcastle 10/1 (16:00)

Saints can seal a playoff spot with a win over Newcastle at Franklin’s Gardens. The hosts are fourth but sit just two ahead of the next-best Gloucester. Coming up against an 11th-placed Falcons side that doesn’t have much to play for, they shouldn’t have much trouble.

Northampton are tipped to seal their place in the play-offs with a convincing win here.

Gloucester 13/10 | Draw 25/1 | Saracens 67/100 (16:00)

Saracens can maintain the pressure on Leicester with victory over Gloucester at the Kingsholm. Mark McCall’s side are second, just three off the Tigers, and should finish their campaign with a positive result to keep things interesting. The fifth-placed Cherry and Whites can keep their slim playoff hopes alive with a win but it’s a big ask.

I’m on Saracens to put paid to Gloucester’s slim play-off hopes here.

Sale 24/100 | Draw 33/1 | Bristol 32/10 (16:00)

Sale can seal a Champions Cup berth next season with a win over Bristol at the AJ Bell. The Sharks are sixth and, while still under pressure with just two points separating them from eighth, should come good here. The 10th-placed Bears have been poor this campaign after topping the table last season and should falter.

Sale should have the better of Bristol at the AJ Bell. One for the weekend multiples, this.

Exeter 2/7 | Draw 28/1 | Quins 28/10 (16:00)

Seventh-placed Exeter can end their season on a high with a win over Harlequins at Sandy Park. Rob Baxter’s boys have endured a campaign to forget and, after appearing in the last six finals, will this year not even make the top four. That said, there is still plenty of pride on the line and one would think they would get the better of a ‘Quins outfit that has already cemented third.

I’m on Exeter to end a disappointing campaign on a high with a home win.

Worcester 9/10 | Draw 25/1 | Bath 19/20 (16:00)

Worcester welcome Bath to the Sixways to decide who finishes bottom of the Premiership this season. The hosts currently hold that status and are separated by just three points off 12th-placed Bath. There will be plenty of pride at stake but the Warriors should come away with a narrow in the end.

I reckon the hosts are the horse to back in this race, though it’s probably best that you avoid this one.
