Wales 22/10

HandicapFrance (-7.5)

Wales (+7.5)

A win or draw for Wales will see them claim the unlikeliest of tournament Grand Slams following a 2020 that saw the side win just three times in 13; twice against Italy and once over Georgia. Two bonus-points secured in a loss would also do the trick.

Wayne Pivac and Alun Wyn Jones’ team have displayed exceptional character in weathering some indifferent performances in the first two rounds to be in this position. The Dragons’ have made just one change, with Adam Beard coming into the starting XV at the expense of Cory Hill.

Such is the experience on display that the only player in the Welsh run-on side not to have won a Grand Slam before is youngster Louis Reece-Zammit. Still, beating France in Paris here would surely rank as one of the nation’s great victories.

France, who still have Scotland to face, must win their two remaining matches and deny Wales a bonus-point to win the title. Should the French collect nine points from their remaining two games, and Wales don’t secure a bonus-point, it will come down to points difference – with the visitors currently 24 better off.

Fabian Galthie has named an unchanged squad from the one that lost to England at Twickenham last week.

Verdict: Wales 22/10

The odds on such an experienced Welsh team are too good to pass up here. Back them at a massive 22/10.
