This was confirmed by the Boks coach Rassie Erasmus as South Africa are preparing for the two Tests against Ireland, starting July 6.

The speculation about Kolisi, who is plying his trade in France for Racing92, being replaced by a locally based Bok captain has been rife.

“Siya will be the captain and will again wear the No.6 jersey. He’s fit and isn’t carrying any injuries,” Erasmus said.

The first match between the top two ranked teams in the world will be played at Loftus Stadium on Saturday, July 6.

The reigning world champions, Boks, are at the summit of the rankings while the Irish are lying second.

For the final meeting, the two sides will head to Durban’s Hollywoodbets Kings Park on Saturday, July 13.

Erasmus also provided injury updates regarding Cheslin Kolbe and other stars.

“Where we are currently standing with injuries is that Cheslin has been cleared to play, and we’ll manage Edwill (van der Merwe), Faf (de Klerk), and (Makazole) Mapimpi this week, although they should be available for selection for the first Ireland Test,” Erasmus said.
