Mbongi Mbonambi says any talk outside their camp will not faze the Sharks as they prepare for their United Rugby Championship match with the Bulls on Saturday.

The Durbanites’ URC campaign has derailed a bit, especially after a dismal performance in every aspect of the game bar the scrums against the Stormers last weekend.

“Credit to the Stormers, they played well and took all their opportunities. But we had an honest chat on Monday and cleared up everything,” Mbonambi told Rugby365.com.

“We as a team decided that whatever talk happens outside it’s never going to influence what is happening inside [the camp]. We know exactly what we need to rectify heading into next week.”

While both teams are sitting with 16 log points, the Sharks are second of the South Africans with a better points difference.

“It is never easy going to Pretoria and playing the Bulls. We know it’s going to be tough and physical but we are putting our plans together. We just have to make sure we are ready on Saturday,” the Springbok hooker concluded.

The Sharks posted a photo of BlitzBoks coach Neil Powell on their social media, saying he was visiting them for the week. Powell will be joining them on a full-time basis at the end of the year after the Sevens World Cup in 2022.
