Lucky Boks escape late Pumas surge

The Springboks produced another lacklustre showing to come away with a narrow 22-21 victory over Argentina at Emirates Airline Park on Saturday. The world champions overcame a horror head knock to Grant Williams inside the opening 11-seconds to ultimately win the Test match and finish second on the Rugby Championship standings, but their overall performance was far from impressive.

The South Americans scored twice late on after a Damian de Allende yellow card, but several missed shots at goal cost them in the end.

With the tournament wrapped up, the sides next clash in a World Cup warm-up match in Buenos Aires this coming weekend.

ABs smash hapless Aussies

The All Blacks scored six tries to blow Australia away in a commanding 38-7 win at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to secure a third-straight Rugby Championship crown and 21st-consecutive Bledisloe Cup title. After an indifferent four years under the much-maligned Ian Foster, the Kiwis look like they’re peaking at just the right time.

For Eddie Jones and his Wallaby outfit, it’s a third defeat in a row ahead of a daunting trip to Dunedin this coming weekend.

Wins for Fiji, Scotland and Uruguay

In the weekend’s other international results, Fiji eased past Samoa 33-19 at Apia Park, Scotland saw off Italy 25-13 at Murrayfield and Uruguay claimed a narrow one-point 26-25 win over Chile at the Estadio Charrua in Montevideo.
