Royal AM owner Shauwn Mkhize allegedly bought Bloem Celtic's DStv Premiership status from current Celtic owner Max Tshabalala for R50 million in a deal that would see the club relocate to Durban.

The official Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirmation of the deal is expected to happen today (Tuesday) in Joburg.

SAFPU president Tholaganyo Gaoshubelwe tells KickOff.com that all contracted players would see their deals remain in place for now.

“You would recall that previously you could purchase a club’s status with no regard for the players,” Gaoshubelwe told KickOff.com.

“Discussions were held since then to ensure that no player is left in limbo when a buyer or investor purchases a team. It’s even stated now in the PSL handbook.

“All players now with contracts that are still active automatically transfer to the new buyer. It means the buyer must then inherit the liabilities along with the assets of the club.

“When a club is sold or bought, players’ contracts are now guaranteed, which we are happy about.”

What is concerning for the club with the start of the new season just under a week away is that players will need to immediately relocate to Durban which could be very a disruptive start to the season.
