In this edition of the Friday 5iver, Desh Parthab takes a look at an improving Marcus Rashford, Kieran Trippier’s impact at Newcastle and more from the Premier League.
Last weekend’s Premier League fixtures certainly delivered the goods! The spoils were shared in a goalless Merseyside Derby, largely due to Jordan Pickford’s heroics between the sticks!
Tottenham earned their fourth league victory of the season at Fulham’s expense. Spurs and Manchester City are the only top-flight clubs that remain undefeated after Manchester United ended Arsenal’s perfect start to the season.
In the pick of the weekend’s action, Guardiola’s men welcome a Spurs side who did the double over them last season.
Thomas Tuchel became the second managerial casualty of the season and has been succeeded by former Brighton boss Graham Potter.
With Everton and Leicester still winless, you have to wonder what ramifications this weekend’s results will have for Lampard and Rodgers respectively.
Here we take a look at a few players to keep an eye on this weekend.
Trippier the darling of the Toon
Kieran Trippier has had more than a hand in Newcastle’s three clean sheets this season – no Premier League club has registered more. The Magpies are currently winless across their previous five league fixtures, but they were in the lead going into halftime against Manchester City and Liverpool during that period. The improvements are tangible and Trippier’s numbers confirm that. The wing-back leads his outfield teammates for chances created, accurate crosses and accurate long balls. Furthermore, he is deadly accurate from dead ball situations. Only Joelinton has completed more passes than Trippier has from all Newcastle players.
Kieran Trippier = Deadball Specialist 🎯🔥

Daka the answer to Leicester’s issues?
After four appearances off the bench, Patson Daka started his first league fixture of the season last time out. The Leicester forward has attempted just four shots this campaign, with three of those coming last time out. Daka did walk away with a goal for his efforts and could follow that up with another this time out. Leicester come up against a Villa side who are yet to keep a clean sheet this season.

MacAllister flying for Seagulls
Alexis MacAllister has netted four of Brighton’s 11 goals this season. The Argentine managed just five goals last term from his 60 shots across his 33 league appearances. Currently, MacAllister has conjured up 11 shots across his six fixtures with five of them being on target. Despite this, just one of the attacking midfielder’s goals came from open play, with the others being three successful conversions from the spot! It is, however, worth mentioning that he had an absolute wordlie ruled out against Leicester. Check it out below:

Adams under pressure to deliver goals
Che Adams has failed to provide an attacking return across his previous three league outings. During that period, the Southampton striker has attempted six shots with four of those being off target. He did come close last time out, as one of his efforts hit the woodwork. Furthermore, no teammate created more than Adams’ 7 chances in that time. Check out his comical effort agaisnt Wolves which was ruled out for handball.
How hasn’t this disallowed goal gone viral yet?

Absolutely sensational from Che Adams. pic.twitter.com/QS0fxemiJf
Rashford’s stock on the rise again
Marcus Rashford has been showing the ruthless precision that he seemingly misplaced last season. The Manchester United forward has been involved in five of the club’s eight league goals this term. Rashford notched up just six goal involvements across his 25 league appearances last season. The striker has attempted a team-high 15 shots where he has bagged three goals, but could have added to his tally after missing one big chance. He also has a pair of assists to show for his seven chances created.
It's end-to-end stuff now at Old Trafford as Rashford increases United's lead 🔥
