Brentford FC eased to a two-nil victory away at London neighbors Chelsea in the Premier League this past weekend. Goals from Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo put the Blues to the sword and earned the Bees back-to-back wins in the league for the first time this season.

The home side started well and managed to get in behind Brentford’s defence a couple times, with Cole Palmer pulling the strings in central midfield but poor finishing in the final third let them down. Raheem Sterling and Marc Cucurella both missed guilt edge chances to find an opener.

Thomas Frank’s men were happy to remain patient and compact without the ball in the first half and looked to sit deep and invite the pressure and take advantage of a counter attack with the pair of Mbuemo and Johan Wissa when the chance would present itself. They limited Chelsea to a lot of sideways passing in front of their goal, but the defensive unit stood strong. Pinnock and Kristoffer Ajer both had monstrous performances at the back.

The longer the game went on, the more the Bees grew into the contest and two minutes before the hour mark Pinnock rose highest at the back post to nod home an Mbuemo cross and send the away fans into delirium.

Mauricio Pochettino tried to turn things around with the introduction of Reece James but besides the Chelsea captain, there was very little depth to choose from to affect the game, not a good look considering the squad at his disposal is worth over a billion pounds.

The visitors put the cherry on top in the last moment of the game as Pochetinno’s men threw the kitchen sink in search of an equalizer. Goal keeper Robert Sanchez went up for a corner which was cleared to substitute Neil Maupay who lead the break away before he slid in Mbuemo to tap home into an empty net.

Frank and his men seem to have the blue-print to beating this Chelsea team at home as they have become the first team in Premier League history to win their first three games at Stamford Bridge. Frank even has more wins(2) at the Bridge this year than Pochettino and Frank Lampard combined(1). A testament to the brilliant job the Dane has done with the Bees.
