Broos called up Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine for the first time as the Buccaneers goalie comes in as a replacement for Ronwen Williams.

The Mamelodi Sundowns goalie and Bafana skipper recently went under the knife. Chaine will compete against SuperSport United’s Ricardo Goss and AmaZulu FC captain Veli Mothwa for a starting berth.

It also remains to be seen who will captain the side in the absence of Williams.

Meanwhile, the majority of the team features familiar faces from the squad that won bronze in the 2023 AFCON.

However, the most notable omission is that of Al Ahly star Percy Tau, who has been horribly off form at Bafana since the recent AFCON in Ivory Coast.

Bafana Bafana Full Squad

South Africa will kick-off their journey to next year’s AFCON with a home game against Uganda at the Orlando Stadium on September 6 before travelling to northeast Africa to confront South Sudan four days later.

Gates at the Orlando Stadium will open at 15h00 on Friday and tickets are priced at R30 (Children, Scholars and Students), R60 for adults, and R140 for family (2 adults + 2 children).

The tickets are available at TicketPro, all Spar supermarkets (QuickSpar and SuperSpar), SASOL, ENGEN, SHELL, PowerFashion and JAM Clothing.
