South African football legend Thabo 'Thibos' Mngomeni feels Orlando Pirates should be patient with co-coaches Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids and copy what Mamelodi Sundowns are doing.

The 52-year-old Mngomeni told KickOff.com that in his opinion joint-caretaker coaches Ncikazi and Davids need to stay in charge for the rest of the season just as has been done successfully at Sundowns so far.

“They must be given a chance just like they normally do with the coaches from overseas,” Mngomeni told KickOff.

“Just like these useless foreign coaches who are always brought here and given ample chances.

“It’s also good for the country because the Pirates coaches are local and they have proven that if people are given a chance something good can happen.

“Even their working relationship will start to grow, a bond is being formed between the two of them and the players.

“Maybe they should include someone like Dan Malesela as a missing piece to the puzzle.

“Sundowns is teaching us something, they are proving it can be done with three coaches,” added Mngomeni.

“Let’s stop this madness of saying clubs are too big for certain coaches, in the past when we won things we used local coaches.

“But since the overseas coaches came with their papers we lost the identity of our style of play.

“Nowadays Pirates are playing this way, Sundowns this way that proves there is a lot of confusion, then Bafana started dropping in the rankings.

“We should have learned from Pitso, we had a mirror in front of us, Dan is a missing piece.”
