Sundowns are thought to have bought the 25-year-old for around R10-million in order to bring quantity to their squad in their quest for CAF Champions League and DStv Premiership glory.

Saavedra joined Club Bolíva in 2013 starting off for their U-20 side before playing in the Bolivian top-flight side.

In an interview with Bolivian website Futbolistasbol, Saavedra confirmed he was leaving Bolivia to look for new challenges and experiences in other countries.

“I looked for this opportunity for a long time, happy and grateful to the people who noticed my football.

“I am more mature to leave the country,” Saavedra told Futbolistasbol.

“I feel like leaving the country to show my football in another country. It is very difficult for Bolivian players to be valued in other countries, this is a motivation for me, I hope it goes very well,” he added.

The midfielder-cum-defender is expected to arrive in South Africa in February after the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Chile on 29 January and 1 February respectively.
