Pirates’ wonderkid had a breakout 2023/24 season with the Soweto giants in the DStv Premiership while making 37 appearances with four goals and six assists.

Reports emerged that the 19-year-old starlet has attracted interest from  Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers, Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg, and North African giants Al Ahly.

Broos has suggested that Mofokeng should bide his time for a further season with the Buccaneers to gain more experience, especially in the CAF Champions League.

“This is not the right moment to go overseas (Mofokeng),” Broos said.

“First, he doesn’t have international experience, nothing.

“So, what I said on Mailula, I repeat it on Mofokeng to stay at Pirates. Play another season here in South Africa with the CAF Champions League games hopefully and then he will be a better player.

“You see what happened with Mailula. He went to Toronto FC and there were two former Italian internationals.

“What are you going to do with a little guy from South Africa? He didn’t play not even one game.”

Mofokeng received his debut call for the national team as Bafana prepare to face both Nigeria and Zimbabwe for the World Cup qualifier in early June.
