A source has told the league’s official website, MLSsoccer.com, that Hlongwane will be added to Minnesota’s squad as a ‘U22 Initiative’ signing once the deal has been officially completed.

The news of Hlongwane’s imminent switch to the MLS comes one day after Maritzburg chairperson Farook Kadodia confirmed interest in the player from a number of European clubs.

While Kadodia did not mention any interest from the MLS, he did reveal that Hlongwane currently has two agents representing him, “one guy locally and one guy overseas”.

Hlongwane, 21, has made 15 appearances for the Team of Choice this season, bagging two goals in the process.

He has been capped six times by Bafana, with his two international goals coming against Uganda and Ghana respectively.
