When at Mamelodi Sundowns, Mosimane coached the 27-year-old Tau for five years.

In a chat with Mzansi rapper Cassper Nyovest on Instagram live, Mosimane confirmed he would love to renew his acquaintance with Tau, in Egypt at Ahly adding he believed the player needed more game time than he was currently getting in Europe.

“Percy has been in Europe, it’s his fourth year and let’s be honest, we haven’t seen Percy play. We have seen Percy play football in Belgium and Belgian teams, even in South Africa we can compete with them, and Al Ahly can beat Belgian teams, let’s be honest,” Mosimane told Nyovest.

Brighton played their final pre-season match against Getafe on Sunday, without Tau present, and when asked about the players whereabouts by media, coach Graham Potter said he was missing for ‘personal reasons’.

“Percy hasn’t played football. Percy is 28 now, do you want Percy to retire without playing football? And then we have the tag of saying he’s playing in the EPL, he’s not playing in the EPL – they keep loaning him out! I mean they have a pre-season now and they are playing friendly games, they don’t even start him, it’s a fact and it’s true.

“So, Percy has to decide whether he’s going to retire without playing football because for me the last time he played football was at Mamelodi Sundowns and I was with him,” Mosimane added.

Mosimane went on to compare Tau to Lionel Messi in the skills department saying he needed to show his skills and be appreciated by fans, something he would get at Ahly.

“I would like Percy to come here, any coach would like Percy to come there. Let him come and play Club World Cup against Bayern, let him dribble Bayern. Percy is a showman, he is like (Lionel) Messi, he’s got so much to show you.

“He has to decide if he wants to play football, but first he must look after the finances. If he can get the same money that he was getting in the EPL at Al Ahly, then he can be the king of the of the continent, king of the jungle if he is happy to come on board and happy to show people what he is capable of, he’s not showing people what he is capable of, he’s about to retire, he’s 28.”
