NAMIBIA

Despite being knocked out in the Round of 16 at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Namibia can take plenty of positives from their campaign. Indeed, the Brave Warriors registered their first-ever finals win (a memorable 1-nil victory over Tunisia) and booked their place in the knockout stage for the first time in their history.

Looking ahead to these 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the Brave Warriors come into this round with a mixed bag of results. Defeat against Equatorial Guinea in their opener was met with a 2-nil victory against San Tome and Principe.

Since being appointed, Collin Benjamin has churned out some strong results. His Namibia outfit went on to find the back of the net five times across his three AFCON qualifiers. Furthermore, their impressive showing in Ivory Coast tells me they aren’t the same minnows we thought they were.

TUNISIA

Tunisia has failed to find the back of the net since Montasser Louhichi assumed the reigns of the national side. His predecessor, Jalel Kadri, tendered his resignation following their AFCON group stage exit, earlier this year.

The Eagles of Carthage will look to rebuild, with Louhichi at the helm. The fifty-year-old adopts a well-rounded team, with a formidable attack and a resolute defense. In this one, I expect a game of fine margins as their opponents have conjured up some impressive results in recent history.

As far as the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers go, they have recorded back-to-back victories across their opening two fixtures. Add a pair of clean sheets to go with their five goals scored and we have a Group H favourite!

PREDICTION: Namibia

With the Brave Warrior’s change of leadership, coupled with their impressive showing at AFCON, this one won’t disappoint! I think the play here is Namibia, who have grown from strength to strength under their current tactician.
