Rumours of Parker’s career ending surfaced after he suffered a horrific injury in a clash with Sundowns’ Bongani Zungu during a thrilling match-up in mid-October. ‘Die Hond’ was rushed to hospital during the game and had surgery shortly after.

Speaking at TS Galaxy media day on Thursday, Parker said he hopes to be back by February next year.

“According to the doctors’ view and the sports times’ view, it’s up to myself how quick I can get back, but they predict that I should be back by February, maybe latest March, but it will all depend on me and how seriously I am taking my recovery, which I am… I hope to be back around that time or maybe sooner, I don’t know…but I would like to take my time so that I can come back stronger and better as a player and help the team finish off the season in a respectable position.” said Parker.

TS Galaxy captain Mlungisi Mbunjana said the support from Parker and the support they have been giving him has been reciprocal.

“We are a tiny group so everyone can get to anyone and Parker being here motivates us because he got injured in the first game of the competition, so seeing him walking on his own, and improving, rehabilitation, and slowly but surely getting back to his feet is motivating us, especially the young ones. They will now see that you can come back after an injury if you do the right things.
