Head coach Cavin Johnson rued his side’s wasteful finishing as Kaizer Chiefs were held to a 0-0 draw by Royal AM in a DStv Premiership clash at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday.

Attacker Ashley Du Preez squandered several chances when on two occasions being through on goal but failing to beat goalkeeper Hugo Nyame.

Despite both teams creating several chances to score the contest ended in a goalless draw as Amakhosi picked up a point away from home.

“Ash (Ashley Du Preez) really put in a good shift but I expect him to score all those goals,” Johnson said post-match.

“He is a goal scorer and if he scored those goals, then he’d be the hero today.

“Unfortunately he didn’t score the goals, but he looks good.

“With Keagan (Dolly), he’s just come back and we’re working on him.

“You saw that he got just about 30 minutes [of action] so hopefully they’ll return to be able to play an entire 90-minute match soon.

“I know with Ashley, he went a lot longer than we expected him to.”

Chiefs next host Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Milford FC in the Nedbank Cup on Sunday.

Kick-off is at 18:00.
