DStv Premiership: Seema and seven players leave Sekhukhune, Peter Hyballa appointed new coach

Lehlohonolo Seema has surprisingly been replaced by Peter Hyballa as the head coach of Sekhukhune United despite guiding the club to fourth position in the DStv Premiership its highest-ever finish in the league.

Lehlohonolo Seema has surprisingly been replaced by Peter Hyballa as the head coach of Sekhukhune United despite guiding the club to fourth position in the DStv Premiership its highest-ever finish in the league.

Lehlohonolo Seema may have steered Sekhukhune United to fourth place in the recently completed DStv Premiership season, but that was not deemed enough by the clubs’ owners to renew his contract with the club announcing that he has been replaced by Peter Hyballa.

German-born Hyballa has been in football management since 2002 when he took charge of Namibian outfit Windhoek Ramblers. Subsequent to that he has taken charge of a range of teams including Sturm Graz, NAC Breda, Türkgücü München and AS Tren?ín.

Sekhukhune reportedly also looked at Morena Ramoreboli and Steve Komphela as coaching options.

Announcing his arrival the club posted on Twitter: “Sekhukhune United wishes to welcome Herr Peter Hyballa as Head Coach to the Club. More to follow…”

Prior to the announcement of Hyballa’s appointment, the club thanked Seema for his efforts and wished him well. “Sekhukhune United Football Club wishes to announce the departure of head coach Lehlohonolo Seema. The coach’s contract, which is set to expire on 30 June 2024, will not be extended.

“The club would like to thank Coach Seema for his dedication and hard work during his time with the team and wishes him everything of the best in his future endeavours.”

Seema is followed out the door by a crop of players, with seven being released. The departing players are Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya, Edwin Gyimah, Sibusiso Vilakazi, Michael Sarpong, Lebohang Mabotja, Collins Makgaka and Tashreeq Morris.
