Mhango has been a rumoured Amakhosi target for some time, with a number of publications reporting that a deal is close to being completed.

Chiefs have already brought in a number of new players, including Given Msimango (TS Galaxy), Mduduzi Mdantsane (Cape Town City), Thatayaone Ditlhokwe (SuperSport United), Ranga Chivaviro (Marumo Gallants), Pule Mmodi (Golden Arrows), Edson Daniel Castillo Garcia (Monagas SC) and Tebogo Potsane (Royal AM).

But according to the club’s football manager, they are not done signing players yet for the new season.

Motaung said in the Citizen: “I don’t have names at the moment. Kaizer Junior handles that aspect while I focus on managing the team and the football environment.

“But not Gabadinho Mhango. We are trying to beef up our strike force. We have two or three injuries in that department, so we’re trying to beef it up.

“Not Gabadinho Mhango but Kaizer Jr will announce soon.”

Chiefs kick off their 2023/24 DStv Premiership against Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on August 6.
