The Buccaneers have managed one win from their last five league games and that came in their recent outing against Sekhukhune United where they were 1-0 victors. They now sit in 10th position with 12 points knowing that a win here would see them leap frog Chiefs and into 7th spot.
For Amakhosi, building on from their win over Cape Town Spurs is equally crucial. That was Cavin Johnson’s first win in his second game in charge, but the Soweto Derby is a completely different challenge for him and his new-look Chiefs. They’ve scored more goals than Pirates in the league, and fine margins like that could be the difference at Soccer City!
Mamelodi Sundowns vs Wydad AC | Loftus Versfeld | 15:00
There will be very little room for error when this two sides at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday to compete in the second leg of the AFL Final encounter.
After playing well at home to secure a 2-1 win in the first leg, Wydad will come into this encounter aiming to show discipline in defence in order to keep a clean sheet, but trust them to anticipate pockets to exploit in Sundowns’ midfield and backline when chances arise.
The Brazillians will wat to come out guns blazing in front of their home fans, and an early goal would certainly tilt the odds in their favour here. It will be a challenge for Rhulani Mokwena’s men to keep constant pressure on an organised defence like Wydad’s, but the onus is on them to take the game to the visitors.
