Like all the other teams in the DStv Premiership, the Citizens have begun preparations for the next season.

The Eric Tinkler-coached side confirmed that Kutumela, who joined on loan at the beginning of the previous season, has been released back to his parent club.

Despite enjoying a lot of game time in the Cape, Kutumela didn’t contribute as much as he would have liked.

The former Orlando Pirates and Maritzburg United striker scored three times and provided a single assist in 28 matches in all competitions.

The Capetonians also parted ways with Angolan forward Jo Paciencia, who also arrived at the start of the season, Relebogile Mokhuoane, goalkeeper Bongani Mpandle and Khanya Leshabela.

“We would like to thank all the players and wish them every success in their future endeavours,” City said.

Leshabela’s departure will come as a disappointment for some as he came with his expectations having come through Leicester City’s youth structures.

The Foxes academy graduate joined the Citizens in February as a free agent and went on to make nine appearances in all competitions.
