The 30-year-old former Maritzburg United and Stellenbosch centre-back has been brought in by new head coach Ernst Middendorp to help strengthen the club’s leaky defence.

He is Spurs’ first signing ahead of the January transfer window but is not expected to be the last.

Head coach Ernst Middendorp recently revealed that the struggling DStv Premiership team intend to bolster their ranks after a slow start to the season.

De Goede joins Spurs on a free transfer having left the Team of Choice at the end of last season.

Spurs are currently rock bottom of the league standings with just three points from 15 games.

Middendorp told iDiski Times: “It is the second part of the work we have to do at the moment probably to get some help, some support with really some players who are coming out of the peak performance level and let’s wait and see what we can do.”

The Cape-based club’s most recent signings, after gaining promotion, include Keagan Buchanan, Siyanda Msani, Surprise Ralani and Nicholas Lukhubeni.
