Miguel recently joined Chiefs from Angolan giants Petro de Luanda on a three-year deal as the Glamour boys plot their way back to the summit of South African and African football.

Amakhosi supporters are likely to see the 28-year-old defender-cum-midfielder, who holds dual citizenship of Portugal and Angola, in action for the club when they kick off their Betway Premiership campaign at the weekend.

For their opening clash, Chiefs travel to Free Stadium in Bloemfontein for a clash against Marumo Gallants on Saturday at 15:00.

According to reports, Miguel who has played his football in Portugal, Romania and Latvia rejected lucrative offers from Algeria and Tunisia to come to the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

The player insisted that the move was not motivated by money because if it was, he wouldn’t have joined the PSL side.

“It was the project that Kaizer talked to me about that made me view that in the future they want to do something big for the future.

“I think I have won everything with Petro in those two years that I was there, and I felt that I needed a new challenge and what’s better than Kaizer Chiefs?

“The giants look to start something different and of course the future and the project and the future made me move here.”

The versatile player also revealed that a conversation with Petro’s shot-stopper Marques played a role in his move to South Africa.

Marques spent a year playing for City in the PSL between 2021 and 2022 before moving to Angola.

“He told me not to think twice about it, Kaizer Chiefs is a big club in South Africa, Africa and they are world recognised,” Miguel said.

“He said that if I want something different in my career and a new challenge, there’s no other better club to go to.

“So, yeah Hugo Marques (convinced) me to come here. It makes me happy also.”
