Jose Riveiro says he is “extremely proud to be Orlando Pirates coach” after guiding the club to a third trophy in just two seasons.
Pirates overcame Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1 on penalties at the Moses Mabhida Stadium after the encounter ended 0-0 after 90 minutes.
Riveiro claimed the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup last term in his first season in charge and defied the odds to beat the Brazilians this time around.
Speaking after the game, Riveiro said on SuperSport: “Just happiness, nothing else. I don’t think it’s a moment to analyse the game.
“We went through a difficult period recently, so the way that these guys fought for a trophy, for the club, for the Pirates family, for our fans to try to inspire them, to try to move them, to give them hope.
“Today, they could see, if you fight, if you are together until the end, even though went through difficult moments in the game, because they are good, it’s a good team, but we managed to stay together to really fight and get the result.
“So I’m extremely proud to be Orlando Pirates coach.”
