NEWS: Orlando Pirates keen to move on from Lorch

Defender Thabiso Monyane insists Orlando Pirates are keen to move on from the blockbuster departure of attacker Thembinkosi Lorch to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

The two sides are set to renew their rivalry on Saturday when the league resumes this weekend.

“Seeing big players join rivals is a thing that happens, this is football,” Monyane said.

“But we still have to continue fighting as a team and move on from what has happened with Lorch.

“We still have some good players in our squad who are capable of stepping up to the plate.

“Every position has competition, so anyone who works hard will get a chance to step up.”

The defender also confirmed that he has fully recovered from an injury that kept him on the sidelines for an extended period.

“I was looking good, and then four minutes into the derby I sustained an ACL injury,” Monyane added.

“To me, that was a major setback but just like any other setback, there’s a great comeback.

“So, that’s in the past now. I am now looking forward to the World Cup qualifiers for the national team, and for the club, we are looking to at least get that second spot and get back to the Champions League.”
