Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker wants his side to learn from their two previous semi-finals after overcoming Polokwane City 2-0 in their Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final on Friday.

Barker’s side lost 4-3 on penalties in their Nedbank Cup semi last season with Sekhukhune United following a goalless draw.

They were then ousted by eventual winners Orlando Pirates in the semi-finals of the MTN8 this term.

Stellies will play one of AmaZulu, Richards Bay or TS Galaxy in the semis of this season’s Carling Knockout.

Speaking after their cup win, Barker said on iDiski Times: “I think we must learn from our two previous semi-finals, you know one went to penalties and one went on away goal.

“So having reached the semi-final three times in this calendar year you can only keep knocking on the door and you keep knocking on the door and the door will eventually open.

“So we are knocking on the door and we are knocking very loud so you know, let’s see what the draw holds for us Monday. But yeah third time this year hopefully it will be our time.”
