It was with Sundowns that Zungu burst onto the scene before being snapped up by French Ligue 1 outfit Amiens SC, where he has spent the last five seasons.

However, he has failed to make much of an impression in France and was loaned out to Scottish Premiership giants Rangers for the 2020/2021 season.

The 28-year-old has also fallen out of favour at international level since Hugo Broos took over and Zungu is reportedly looking to move back to SA so as to force his way back into the national team set up with Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns being linked with his signature.

And Zungu appears to have stated his transfer preference, saying Sundowns will always have a special place in his heart.

“I met (the Sundowns’) president (Patrice) Motsepe in Paris, the other year, and he told me Sundowns will always be home,” Zungu said in a lengthy heart-heart conversation with Ncube and Mazola Molefe.

“So, Sundowns will always be my home, no matter what happens from now until when I make my decision about where I’m going to be (playing come the 2022/2023 season).”
