SuperSport initially took the lead with a goal from Terrence Dzvukamanja, only to see Elias Mokwana equalize, and Chibuike Ohizu net the decisive 2-1 winner later in the match.

Despite the setback, Matsatsantsa maintain their hold on the second spot in the DStv Premiership log, accumulating 23 points. They are just a point shy of table-toppers Mamelodi Sundowns, though it’s worth noting that SuperSport have played 12 matches compared to Sundowns’ eight.

Hunt, analysing the match, expressed his disappointment, emphasizing pivotal missed opportunities that could have solidified their position. “Yeah, disappointed we should have gone 2-0 up there, I mean Bradley missed on the goal line,” remarked Hunt in a post-match interview with SuperSport TV.

“Should have been 2-0, 3-0 then the game would have been over and we could have managed it, but we couldn’t; we had to chase.”

Hunt acknowledged the unpredictable nature of the game, citing instances where the opponent capitalized on deflections. “Then they get the first, the second was a big deflection, wasn’t it? And the ball ended up [in goal], how it ended up I still haven’t seen it.”

Despite the setbacks, Hunt commended his team’s resilience, noting, “But yeah, we kept going and it’s disappointing because we could have opened up a gap, and we should have won both these games. We could have won both games in Polokwane, but it is what it is.”

Looking ahead, Hunt expressed a pragmatic approach, recognizing the challenges of playing away from home. “You know we play three away, well we just play anywhere.”

SuperSport’s next challenge is set for November 26, as they gear up to face Egyptian side Modern Future FC in a CAF Confederation Cup clash at Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo at 15h00.

The clash in Polokwane leaves SuperSport reflecting on what could have been, as missed opportunities hinder their quest for a more comfortable lead in the DStv Premiership.
