Desh Parthab takes highlights five things you should keep an eye out for this weekend in the DStv Premiership including Ronwen Williams issues at Sundowns and AmaZulu’s fantastic home form.
Mamelodi Sundowns, Richards Bay and Royal AM are level on points at the summit of the DStv Premiership and are only separated only by goal difference.
Twihli Twahla had a chance to take the outright lead but succumbed to an excellent Richards Bay side on Tuesday. Amazulu come into this round of fixtures in fourth place with 11 points to their name.
Orlando Pirates are level on points with Usuthu, but missed the chance to leapfrog the Durban-based side, following their 1-0 loss against Maritzburg United.
Things are heating up at the tail end of the log, with just two points separating the bottom five clubs – which includes AmaKhosi. With that being said, here are a few players who could determine the outcomes during this round of fixtures!
Williams under pressure from Onyango
The goals are flying in at both ends at Mamelodi Sundowns! The Brazilians have conceded four goals across their Seven league outings this term, a stark contrast to their defensive performances of last season. During the opening 10 league fixtures of the 2021/22 season, Sundowns recorded 10 clean sheets, with shot-stopper Denis Onyango responsible for seven of those in his seven league appearances during that period. Ronwen Williams is the man between the Sundowns sticks for this campaign and has recorded four clean sheets across his seven league appearances.
Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi said despite them using newly-signed goalkeeper Ronwen Williams in the recent games he is by no means the first choice and the starting position is still up for grabs.https://t.co/GlmTgYRaJZ

Soukoma finding his shooting boots for goal-shy Maritzburg
Amadou Soukouna has scored in back-to-back home league fixtures this term. The Maritzburg United attacker seems to have an affinity for fixtures in KZN, as his three league goals last season all came on home soil. The Team of Choice have been struggling in front of goal, with just 4 goals to show for their 7 top flight appearances – only TS Galaxy (3) have netted fewer from all top-flight clubs.

Kwem looking to step up for AmaZulu
Augustine Chidi Kwem has failed to provide an attacking return across his previous three league outings. The AmaZulu forward has opened his account for the season and has registered an assist thus far, but will need to get those numbers up if Usuthu are to challenge for the title. The striker has attempted just two shots, with only one of them being on target during his previous three league appearances. The former TS Galaxy man only found the back of the net on four occasions across all competitions last season and will need to find improvement in eThekwini.

Swallows flying at home
Swallows have netted seven goals in their three home league fixtures this term – no topflight club has more home league goals than them. Tshediso Patjie was involved in 2 of those 7 goals on home soil, setting up one of those and burying another. The former Sekhukhune United wideman delivered 5 assists last season across his 26 league appearances, which was enough to convince the Dube Birds.

Chiefs limping on the road
Kaizer Chiefs are yet to find the back of the net on their travels this term. The Glamour Boys have three defeats to show for their three away league outings this term, shipping seven goals during that period. Ashley Du Preez marked his return from injury with a goal, from an impressive five shots in their MTN8 bout against Stellenbosch. The dangerman did not get on the score sheet last time out, but may have some luck against a Gallants side who have kept just a single clean sheet across their previous five topflight appearances.
