The Glamour Boys marked a new era in for the club by reuniting with Kappa as their kit manufacturer after announcing the end of their deal with Nike last season.

But when the images of the new designed were leaked on social media earlier this week, Fans could not help but share their disappointment at the new look.

The Kappa Chiefs 2023-2024 Home shirt is yellow with a broken zig zag pattern that incorporates tonal shades and black sections. The pattern is a reworking of the one used by Kappa on the club’s 92-93 home shirt.

Meanwhile, the away kit introduces a completely new away colourway for the club, with its dark green base and yellow accents. The look is similar to the kits of South Africa’s rugby team, the Springboks.

For the Sea Robbers, their plan to get fashion designer Thebe Magugu to design their kit for the upcoming season also received mixed reactions from the club’s supporters – who started a trend called ‘AMATHAMBO AWAHLANGANI’ (the Bones are not united) as way to voice their dismay.

The disappointment is particularly directed at the design of the Home shirt, which portrays the iconic bones (used as the club’s emblem) enlarged across the front of it.

Tweeps were quick to point out that they could have come up with much better designs of the kits compared to the 29-year-old Kimberly-born designer.
