Juventus 14/10 | Draw 9/4 | Napoli 19/10 (21:45)
Juventus kick start the weekend in an exciting match-up with the reigning Scudetto champions Napoli. The Bianconeri are the only team to remain unbeaten at home this season, scoring 11 goals and conceding only four across the seven home fixtures. Napoli on the other hand have had a difficult defence to their Scudetto but are one of two teams to remain unbeaten away from home, making this a must-watch fixture. I’m on Juventus to edge this one based on their home form.
Saturday 9 December
Verona 28/10 | Draw 47/20 | Lazio 19/20 (16:00)
Lazio are clearly the favourites in this fixture and a victory will do them a world of good as they struggle to match the standard they set last season. Verona, meanwhile, sit deep in the relegation zone and are winless in their last five fixtures. Both teams struggling defensively and I see both teams scoring with Lazio snatching a second victory on the spin.
Atalanta 14/10 | Draw 22/10 | AC Milan 19/10 (19:00)
Atalanta are winless in their last five meetings with AC Milan and have battled with a poor home record thus far in the season, they will need to bring their A-game on the day. AC Milan are starting to get their confidence back after a few disappointing results and a win will ensure they keep Atalanta under their boot while maintaining their outside chance at a title tilt. This could either way but I back Milan for the win.
Inter Milan 1/4 | Draw 48/10 | Udinese 17/2 (21:45)
Inter Milan are looking to record their third consecutive victory at home at the expense of Udinese. Inter come into this fixture off a comfortable 3-0 victory over Napoli to remain unbeaten in their last five outings in the league while challengers Udinese have managed a single win in their last five fixtures. This should be easy pickings for Milan as they have the hottest attack in the league. Inter Milan to win with over 2.5 goals.
Sunday 10 December
Frosinone 43/20 | Draw 22/10 | Torino 13/10 (13:30)
Frosinone have been a formidable opponent at home this season despite their log standing and are unbeaten in their last five home games. Torino will be looking for their revenge after they lost 2-1 in the Coppa Italia early last month to Frosinone but scoring goals has been their biggest issue thus far and with a poor away record it makes this fixture even harder to get past. Back the home win here.
Monza 11/10 | Draw 22/10 | Genoa 5/2 (16:00)
Monza occupy 10th place while Genoa sit 14th. The sides are separated by just three points. Expect a typically cagey mid-table encounter here between two sides who are yet to meet this season. I’m leaning toward Monza based on Genoa’s awful record on the road this term.
Salernitana 47/20 | Draw 9/4 | Bologna 12/10 (19:00)
This could be an interesting match-up between the two as Salernitana sit rock-bottom while Bologna are just one point out of the last European spots. I say interesting because Salernitana’s only win came on home soil and Bologna have not won away from home all season. The last three results ended in a draw, and I see that repeating again here. Both teams to score for me.
Roma 1/1 | Draw 9/4 | Fiorentina 26/10 (21:45)
Roma are playing with a swagger about them after a difficult start to the season. The inclusion of Romelu Lukaku has given them a different dimension to the way they play and with five consecutive victories at home, this should be a tough challenge for Fiorentina. All past head-to-head records lean the way of Roma and I see them making it six consecutive wins at home.
Monday 11 December
Empoli 14/10 | Draw 22/10 | Lecce 39/20 (19:30)
Empoli surprisingly have not lost to Lecce in the last five meetings and being the home team will give them the confidence they need to continue in this fashion and claim all three points. Lecce are yet to win away from home this season making this an even greater challenge on the day. Both teams need the points and I see both teams cancelling each other out with a draw and both teams to score.
Cagliari 27/20 | Draw 49/20 | Sassuolo 18/10 (21:45)
Cagliari welcome Sassuolo to the Unipol Domus Stadium to round off gameweek 16. Cagliari still face an uphill battle in getting themselves out of the relegation zone while Sassuolo struggle to find consistency and reach their high standards. Both teams come into this fixture in search of a win. I’m backing Sassuolo to make it back-to-back victories away from home.
