The Proteas had, earlier in the day, absolutely thumped England in the concurrent 2023 Cricket World Cup in India. Having scored a mammoth 399/7 thanks to the likes of Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen and Marco Jansen, they restricted the Three Lions to 170/9, defeating the defending champions soundly by 229 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
On the other hand, Radebe is revered in one part of England at least. He played at Leeds United between 1994 and 2005, representing ‘The Whites’ on 314 occasions, being famously appointed as the club’s captain from 1998 onwards.
